Default Second Life.

The virtual world.

It's good fun and there's something for everyone there.

Meet people, discussions, meditation meets, romances, dancing, the blues... crazy sexy things... lol.

Anything.

It is fun. The only problem is that if people get too much into at the expense of the 'real' world, their functionality especially when it comes to face to face interactions, might suffer. So a careful balance is warranted.

SL fun place, I loved building there. This would have been about 5 years ago.. I have been back in recently and it feels much different then before.

The land on the mainland I used to own ( yes I owned digital land) is basically blank now :/.. when I left SL it was a very vibrant community.

My favorite thing to do was Landscape I really loved products offered by botanicals ... I am trying to remember if that is the name.

There are still gems running around in SL that are well worth visiting.

It's an artform... and the avatar is invested in, finacially and with emotional vanity.

The Landscapes are created artistically, in a medium never seen before.

Most Amazingly though, space itself has been redefined from a volumous quantity to an elecronic world, which does exist wholefully as stored information, but only manifests when your individual cam brings it into view.

BAZINGA! (As Sheldon Cooper might say)

Oh yes! I well know what you are saying. I have several custom avatars created for me that I paid for and also invested in landscape materials also paid land usage fees for a year that was half of a mainland sim, this was after the initial property purchase.

I am currently a land owner once again and ironically its the same land I owned before but not as big of a chunk this round. I have not done anything with it yet Im waiting for the creative bug to hit me.

SL - expressing yourself in ways never before thought of.

When my first landscaping adventure began, the neighbors I had wanted me to decorate theirs as well .. I created a waterfall and it flowed to the sea hills valleys trees grass flowers you name it.

I am a huge fan of Chris Lehmanns work as he creates the best in SL landscape material.

Currently my avatar is a pirate LOL she may go back to woodland elf at some point I have walked around as a tree, been nothing but a sphere of light, a butterfly grins on and on.

I have fond memories of SL and will make new ones again when I am ready.

I've met people who use the game to do the wild things that they would never do in their real life, as they use their avatar to vicariously live through, and as you say living as and elf, fae, dragon or an orb of light, a robot, an animal, vampire... or anything.

The shopping, for new clothes and adornments, and working for $linden, renting or buying and building property... and even becoming so profitable, making real life money selling $linden on ebay at a reduced 'exchange rate'.

Artistic expression and writing scripts for your particular interests, opening a shop, or a night club, or a sleazy BDSM dungeon... becoming a slave or a master/misrtress... or any other of the diverse role play.

It's such a wide ranging game within a game within a game... but I always say 'Second Life isn't only a game'
