Is there no Good News thread around here? Well, I'm totally ripping of your ideas AG. I'm going camping for a week! Yay! Our first stop is Drumheller where I'll get to see the 'mushroom stems' at the badlands again and the Tyrrell museum - Canada's largest collection of dinosaur bones. I'll feel like a kid again running around in that place. A kid with a fully grown, naughty mind. 'Lets find giant beavers!' ![]() But yah, I'll be gone for a week, so I won't be answering any private messages after today. |

I have good news - I'm off to Vancouver the end of next week for a family wedding. I can't wait to see my family. - Today, I signed up for Kiva/micro-loans and have provided loans to someone in Peru and another person in Nicaragua. It feels good knowing I can help others in a small way. - I was scheduled to get official lay off notice on August 30th but I received a call last week; advising me the notices have been delayed. -My friend is the new owner of a 9 week old puppy and asked if I could house sit/dog sit while they are on vacation. They booked a week at a resort back in the spring (before they had the puppy) which does not accept pets. I have always wanted a dog but due to our lifestyle it wouldn't work out. This is fantastic news, I get to spend a week with a beautiful puppy and help out some friends. |

I will post again as I have just received some fantastic news. I am off to Vancouver and my sister will greet me at the airport. As some of you may know my sister was hospitalized for 18 months and we were not sure if she would make it - let alone walk again. She was released in May in a wheelchair with the hopes she would graduate to a walker and eventually walk on her own..................and with her determination she is now walking without a walker. Back in July 2009, my sister was rushed to emergency with stomach pains. As it turned out she had a huge leak in the tube that is directly attached to her stomach; along with a gallstone lodged in her pancreas. Although she would eat when she was hungry and besides feeling a bit tired she didn't realize nothing was being processed, it was leaking into her body cavity and her organs were shutting down. Any food that did make it through was broken down and provided nutrients to her organs but it was stopped at her pancreas because of the gallstone. It has been a horrific 18 months wondering if she would ever get better. She is married with 3 kids. She sent me an e-mail today that her and her husband will meet me at the airport without her walker. That is fantastic news for me as I had lost my brother after a 17 day battle with colon cancer so the thought of me losing a sister and my 3 nieces losing their mum would have been unbearable. LIFE IS GOOD!!! |

I have been fostering 2 more dogs for a couple weeks. They're older and very well socialized. My own dog, rescued a year ago and very, very shy, has had his life changed by these 2 newcomers. He's learned to approach and greet other dogs without fear, to interact respectfully, to play. He's even become good friends with the female of the pair. It's so awesome. My pup has radically changed (for the better) and completely bloomed over the past few months.

My grandma is coming down to stay with us for a month. I haven't seen her since last year, so I'm glad. They dogs with be ecstatic; they always flip out with joy when ever they see her. You know, my grandma is something like 81 and she is still kicking it pretty strong. |
