I just finished a science fiction novel called The End of Mr. Y by Scarlett Thomas. It's a new book (Oct 06) that I basically just came across "randomly". I was mildly attracted to both the title and the cover art, and I was wanting a nice bit of fiction to read, so I checked it out. Wow. It pulled my mind in so many new and interesting directions! The author is clearly a smart lady who is able to think "outside the box", and though it took me a minute to get into the book, once I was hooked, I carried the poor thing around with me everywhere until I was done. Now it has me thinking about things I'd never even imagined before. Has anyone else read this book? (For those considering new fiction, I would warn you that there is some profanity and sexual content, though that is not nearly the theme of the story.) I'd love to hear other's thoughts on it. |
