The time has arrived to present the address for my website. Pavlina members are welcome to visit and snoop around. This is what I've been doing in the past several months. Some Pavlina members who are also on my forum chose to remain anonymous. Others you will recognise. We're a small forum, and have opted to stay that way: this is why I asked that the URL not be given out. Halfpast members were hand-selected on the merits of their spirit, ability to get along well with any variant, and their contributions to mutual growth. We don't just approve anyone: members are screened for just such traits. Some Pavlina invitees have declined the offer to join my forum, and I respect their choices, although I stipulated months ago that the invitation was unconditional, and there was no time limit. Some have accused this approach as a "gated community". That is not the intention. The intention is to maintain a forum where cooperation and mutual respect is assured by sensitive members. As Administrator, I don't approve just anyone at all, and it has been for this reason many have found a safe haven at Halfpast. Be advised that there are several threads inaccessible to the public, for the very reason of having a "safe place". None of our members have breached that trust, and because of the demeanor among them all, a breach is unlikely. I am not interested in recruiting new members. However, should you decide you would fit in, after registering there, please send me a PM via the Pavlina forum. Again, this allows me to monitor who comes on board. halfpast - Index This thread can be used for discussion between forums, or to throw rotten tomatoes at me. |

As so often happens in THIS Indigo mind, I came across some unrelated fact that prompted the memory of something else...but there seems to be a connect. In researching information about Blue Ray DVD, I came across this: "The Blu-ray Disc is an optical disc storage medium designed to supersede the standard DVD format. It enables the recording, rewriting and play back of up to 25 gigabytes (GB) of data on a single sided single layer 12cm CD/DVD size disc using a 405nm blue-violet laser. It Blu-Ray gets its name from the type of laser it uses to read and write data from and to the disc, the color of the laser is a hue of blue-violet." Which reminded me of this: Are Humans Beings Of Light? "There was another odd property of these compounds: each of the carcinogens reacted only to light at a specific frequency -- 380 nm (nanometres) in the ultra-violet range. Popp kept wondering why a cancer-causing substance would be a light scrambler. He began reading the scientific literature specifically about human biological reactions, and came across information about a phenomenon called 'photorepair'." from the thread Cancer Last edited by royster; 05-25-2011 at 01:16 PM. |

| continued... Light, Color, Filter, Jos. Schneider Optische Werke tells us: . Electromagnetic radiation The total range of this radiation can be divided into radio waves, radar waves, heat rays, light rays, ultraviolet rays, X-rays and Gamma rays. All these rays obey the same laws despite the fact that they appear very different to human sensing systems and that technology requires the most various devices to master them. Electromagnetic waves can also spread in a vacuum. They are then at the same speed for all frequencies. . Light Electromagnetic radiation of varying intensity and wave-length capable of causing an impression of brightness and color in the human eye. Most light sources radiate mixed light, consisting of different light colors. The wave-length is used in optics to characterize these colors. Light energy increases as wave-length decreases. Blue light has more energy than red light. The nature of light has not yet been explained exactly. The best explanation has been offered by the quantum theory: "Light consists of particles which often behave like a wave." Light as defined by photography is all radiation between 320 and 1050 nm. Outside these wave-lengths, special equipment such as quartz lenses and photon amplifiers necessary in order to create pictures. Color Color is the psychological response of the eye to electromagnetic radiation between 380 and 780 nm. Color sensing is operated via three different sensing systems for blue, green and red. Color film, color selection techniques and color television are based on the way the eye sees color for their theoretical construction. Color chart The color chart is a system based on standard light types and on the average human color feeling, allowing accurate placing of a color on a graph by means of numerical values. For better orientation, the light colors have been added in Fig. 1 as in the curve diagrams. Likewise, the names of many B+W filters can be found. Light color Wave-length in Nanometer nm Ultraviolet A 320 to 370 Violet 370 to 410 Indigo-blue 410 to 430 Blue 430 to 480 Bluish-green 480 to 500 Green 500 to 540 Yellow-green 540 to 560 Yellow 560 to 580 Orange 580 to 610 Red 610 to 650 Dark red 650 to 780 Infrared A 780 to 1400 "Popp also knew that patients with xeroderma pigmentosum eventually die of skin cancer because their photorepair system can't repair solar damage. He was also struck by the fact that photorepair works most efficiently at 380 nm -- the same frequency that the cancer-causing compounds react to and scramble. This was where Popp made his logical leap. If the carcinogens only react to this frequency, it must somehow be linked to photorepair. If so, this would mean that there must be some kind of light in the body responsible for photorepair. A compound must cause cancer because it permanently blocks this light and scrambles it, so photorepair can't work anymore. It seemed logical, but was it true?" |

Royster, I gotta be honest with you, I dont like the layout of your site at all. I like the way Pavlina forum is layed out much better. I also hate that shoutbox thingie. Not trying to be a jerk, bro. Just giving some honest, constructive criticism |

No offense taken, Frisky. When I first arrived at Halfway, I was coming from a vBulletin forum whose format was identical to this one (Pavlina). It took quite a while to get used to it. You actually CAN change the look on your individual account once logged in, but the forum, itself, is SMF forums and they operate differently. Changing the look only affects your view, not the forums'. While I am Administrator, I don't know enough to change the layout, but I DO know to leave well-enough alone. |

BTW, Frisky: you can close that shout box by clicking the little box with the + or - symbol in the upper corner. There's all kinds of cool user-controls that this forum doesn't have. But THIS (Pavlina) forum is designed for high traffic and simplicity. Halfway and Halfpast take a little more focus to use, but you'll appreciate them once you learn to use them. |
