When I was younger my siblings and I named our new dog Jamie, after one of our cousins whom we all admired. Only she seemed rather offended by the gesture and now never talks to any of us at family gatherings And while her name isn't all that silly, she has this habit of making the goofiest faces. |

My dog's name is Samuel Clemens, normally called Sam, with innumerable nicknames that I plan to sprinkle through out this thread. One is Ponarcus. | |

| ![]() That has quite the humorous ring to it. Does your dog also resemble Mark Twain? Cute names, I never did do well with keeping a beta fish. For all that machismo aggression they are rather fragile creatures prone to dying from tank shock. |

I had a dog named "the dingo ate your baby" from "A Cry in the Dark" with Meryl Streep. I called her "the lady dingo." She was the best, I held her while she died last year. The remaining dog is Norman Bates. He is neurotically attached to me. I let him ride with me to pick up my son from his Dad's house tonight and he was over the moon. I had a pitbull mix named Bruce Banner, once, a la the incredible hulk. He was massive because he had lab in him, too. I used to hold his head in my hands and say "how did this fit out of your mama's birth canal? it's gigantic!" my cat is named Nyx, which is dutch for nothing, I think. He lives outside and disappears for long blocks of time. My chickens were named blackie and ginger. A raccoon dug up under their pen while I was in south carolina and ate them. All that was left was some of ginger and a bunch of feathers.... |

I once had a cat that ended up being named 'dollar-ninety eight'. You could probably guess how much we paid for him. My Mom had some cats over the years with names like Magnum and TC (from the Magnum PI TV show). She now has a dog named Stormy, and a cat named Blizzard. I had a goat named Chester once. He came with that name though. |

For some reason, these days, the dog only gets called "Miz Mollie." The cat, on the other hand, whose name is Adia, has several nicknames along the theme of "pants": Pants, The Pants, Adypants, Miz Pants, etc. I also call her Kitty Bitty sometimes. Or Kitty Bitty Baby. Sickening, I know. |
