Default What would you do if you had a death note?

Would it tempt you to use it? (Wikipedia: Death Note)

Would you use it?

Would you use it for personal gain, to better the world, or both?

Personally, I can imagine myself using it in the most clear-cut of situations where the death of one person would mean the life of many, many more. I'd use it against Colonel Gaddafi in the current situation and possibly use it to stop certain other wars or bloodsheds.

I might also judiciously use it where euthenasia is an obvious option, but legally impossible. I would float around hospitals and find those people who have been begging to be euthenised and let them slip away in their sleep.

As for personal gain... I can't think of a way that would feel good to me, even if in principle I could find someone who would be willing to pay me for the death of a person who would be an "ethical" kill. I guess because mixing with these sorts of people couldn't bring anything good, and greed can blind your vision with regards to ethics sometimes, which is a trap I most decidedly wouldn't want to fall into.

Perhaps getting paid for euthenasia?

IDK, well, whatever.

How would YOU use the death note? Go on, you know you want to.

Well, first of all, I'd make Gaddafi's head explode.

After that, we'll see how it goes.

Wait, could I use it on God and steal his throne, thus becoming the new God?

Hm, theoretically, I guess I couldn't, as killing God would probably make me the devil...

Also, the whole thing with the death note is writing down someones name, While picturing there face........ Self explanatory but I will state it anyways.

We don't know what god looks like. What if you pictured god, or what you thought god looked like and some kid across the world from you ends up dying?

Me, personally, I wouldn't use it. For anything. Too much responsibility.

I think it's kinda sick to even contemplate this, personally. Even on "bad" people.

The reason I think it's sick is because it's fantasy, and because you're fantacizing some imaginary thing, why not fantacize something that better resolves your situation? Such as a "transform note"? That is, whoever's name you write in that notebook, will suddenly transform into something positive.

Suddenly, you don't have to kill a bunch of people to rid the world of evil. You just transform them.

If you're going to have a fantasy, go BIG peeps.

If there was a popular awesome anime/manga called "Transform Note", than yeah thats what the topic would be about.

It's like, you watch a show and after, you think about it. It sticks in your head. It's not like that is especially morbid.

Most of all, though, it's just not that important. Why not have a slightly morbid conversation? If it harms none...?

You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. And if your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away.

It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell.

I'd use it to prevent other people from being killed. I wouldn't use it though as a revenge tool.

For example, I'd use it to kill Kaddaffi if it meant stopping the massacre of civilians. But if Kaddaffi had being stopped by other means, I wouldn't use it to kill him as revenge for all of those civilians he's killed, or as a "warning" to other dictators.

A gun in a way is a death's note. I once was in a situation where I saw a man was about to put the life of a baby and the baby's mother in danger. I stepped in and was ready to kill him in order to prevent that from happening. Thankfully, there ended being no need to kill him. However, I would have killed him had it meant saving their lives.

I agree with this. Revenge is stupid and pointless. But ending one life to save two - that's the sort of thing I could see as justified.

I think I would avoid using the death note to save two lives though. I'd use it to save thousands, e.g. by killing Kaddaffi (is that the correct spelling? I didn't know).

Same. Example: someone hurting my kids (I mean really hurting). I would not even shoot them, I'd meet them and beat them to death until they look like human puree. (I never ever thought of hurting any living things before I had kids...being a mum makes me also a dormant murderer ).
