Default What does happiness physically feel like?

I wasn't sure where to post this but since you guys are a creative lot, I thought you could help me out with a college assignment I have. I study design at college and an assignment I'm currently doing requires me to create objects that convey an abstract concept through touch.

I got given the words 'dreaming' and 'happy'. They are to be combined as one phrase and I am to create an object that conveys the sense of dreaming happy through touch alone, although I wonder if I can quietly get away with adding a bit of smell too . So far, I've been using a silky handkerchief and cotton balls to convey the dreaming part (you're asleep right?) but the happiness part has me stumped. What does happiness feel like?

Happiness to me feels like:

Soft, fluffy, teddy bear, the soft vibrations of the purring of my cat, the hug or embrace of my friends or husband...

Hope this helps!!

Start with what makes YOU feel happy first. Its not going to e the same for everyone so you're going to have a tough time finding a universally liked object. XD

For me happiness feels like cool water in my mouthand warm sunlight on my skin.

A thin arm across my shoulder, hugging me.

Being encircled in a hug by stong masculine arms.

^_^ See how different it is for everyone?

Wow, there are so many ways to answer this question, as many ways as there are people, I suppose. Hugs (giving and receiving), petting my cat while she purrs, sunshine on my shoulder (thank you John Denver), that spring in my step when my body is happy and wants me to know it -- on and on the list goes.

Another thing that feels "happy" to me is what Chuck Norris called touchstones in his book "The Secret Power Within: Zen Solutions to Real Problems." The physical object and the happy feeling are connected by remembering, well, here's Chuck's words on page 167:

"Sometimes you find yourself alone, out in the desert, up in the mountains or down by the sea looking at that piece of natural world stretching out before you. You pick up a pebble, a feather or a shell and suddenly all that artificiality falls away. Your life seems so simple and clear, with nothing standing in the way. Then you turn around, get back in your car, and find yourself back in town with all those other voices and pressures, and you lose sight of that open road. But it's always there inside you. If you remain true to yourself, to your chosen discipline and to those you love, you'll discover you are moving steadily along that road, finding your way effortlessly, just as if you already knew the way..."

My take on this is that Chuck is encouraging us to go to that special place where we can get out of our heads and into our bodies. We all have a special place, and if yours is anything like mine, it's not on the main road, it's on a country road, a path less traveled by, one that has made all the difference. A place where we can watch ripples on a lake, touch a leaf, smell a flower, listen to waves kissing the shore, stroll under the stars or along a beach, taste the wind. Let something concrete and sensory touch you. Take it home. Then the next time you feel like a prisoner of your own thoughts, a role you are playing, a mask you are wearing, the busyness of life or somebody else's expectations, remove one of your touchstones from your pocket and remember who you really are. Journey back to that special place called self, the one drawn to peace and solitude, the one filled with awe and wonder, the one moved by love and courage, the one who says "Yes!" to life by being present in the here and now to experience it, the one free to let every moment speak for itself. Nothing feels happier than that to me.

And please let me add that happiness is like moonshine: make your own and you'll never run out. I'm as happy as I want to be, and by gosh I wanna be...

--Bill

If you sculpt it from clay or rock/limestone/lime-sandstone or whatever, why not?

Are you reffering to feeling the process of sculpting it or the finished sculpture itself?
