I'd be surprise if Steve is in favor of this. He likes to have a friendly environment for personal development on here and something like this looks like it would create an unfriendly environment and be a distraction to using this forum for personal development.

It's not the destroying rep that is fun. It's the game of it that is fun. A neg rep to me is like a razz in real life. No ill will is intended on my part. If it's being perceived as ill will, then that's on the end of the perceiver.

I'm with seeker on this one. Even though I agree that rep is just for fun, negative rep is not fun to me at all...

And Space, you know it is not about not allowed to have fun... it is what constitutes fun for you. If it is negative repping people, I'd say, go for it.

Yeah, I can see how it might be fun between those who want to participate in it. It wouldn't be fun for those to receive negative rep who don't want to participate in this "war".

I myself don't find it fun to receive a negative rep from someone who did it to spite me.

What's the big deal? It's not like the rep means anything. If it meant something, you wouldn't have a thread here where people can come and go "Hey, I need a new square, hit me."

EDIT: To clarify, I'm not bothered by that thread, btw. I just figured that the rep thing was just a goofy thing because of that thread.

It actually does mean a lot to some people. Perhaps more than it should. People love seeing their rep point go up and increase.

There are plenty of people who never participate in those thread who get a lot of enjoyment from getting repped due to a good post they wrote.

So yeah, rep may not mean anything to others, but it tends to mean a bit to the people inside because they get a good bit of satisfication from it.

Even if the person throwing that cold water likes to receive water thrown at them, the person receiving that cold water can dislike it and not find it fun.

I'm only waging war on the peeps who post in the "hit me with a new square" thread.

I actually gave out lots of positive rep in order to rep, Mounds, for instance.

So, you could say that the positive impact of my rep war is that I'm positive repping lots of people with low rep so that I can free up the ability to neg rep the peeps in that thread.

Children teasing and making fun of other children, calling them names, and degrading them. All in the spirit of "good fun". And there might be even a situation where there is a group of children who do it to each other. "Because everybody does it".

"It is fun calling him a dumbo, he calls me a lazy*ss as well".

It is not the type of environment I like to see.

I think that is my main problem with this. This type of "joking" is simply not funny to me.

(I mean that in all seriousness because you've been perceiving me in really negative ways lately--labeling me as PMSing--and I've been cycling between happy and in a really great mood lately.)

Always when people want to hurt other people for "fun" it touches on something for me.

Not personally, I mean, I'm not sitting behind my computer crying I'm way to busy to build the life of my dreams to do that .

But I don't like it, and I'll stand up against it whenever I see it.

For me the world and life and everything is about Joy. Spreading joy, being joy. Neg. repping people doesn't fall in that category.

I don't think I'm the one who might need a good thread in Emotional Mastery...

It might be fun, for you, if you want to, to read the similarities of your posts now, and 3 years ago. There are a lot....

Well, so far, the only negative feedback I've received on my posts as of late have come from you and Angela.

The other posts I"m making, I think lots of people have really appreciated my input.

That's kinda why I brushed it off the last time you brought it up. I'm seeing more positive impacts than negative, plus I'm really comfortable with my posts now, saying what's on my mind, etc. Plus, I'm happier than a pig in **** about my current new direction.

That's why I bring it up for you, because, like we always say around here, feedback means very little about the person receiving the feedback and loads more about the giver of the feedback.

So here's the game plan...

I'm currently in the process of training 1000 monkeys to create accounts on this forum. These highly trained monkeys will create clever posts and beg for rep in their signatures. Once they are of a known quantity, they will start neg repping Iron James, chipping away at his pristine reputation. Eventually, Iron James will be so ashamed of his minuscule rep that he will move on, never to be seen in these parts again.
