One band, song, and album per person. The only qualification is: they had to have come through an FM radio. (This doesn't include singing through "Mr.Microphone", Mounds). After a few pages, someone can tally up and create a poll. (I'll be off the forum, by then). Band: Led Zep Song: [opting to say later] Album: Supertramp, "Breakfast In America" |

Before someone beats me, I'll go with one that may seem cliche, but is an inescapably significant, and so treasured, part of my past. What began as a case of "I'll like this because she does" born of a HS crush became a key part of a lifetime of musical pleasure. I'd like to thank her for that, wherever she is... After I thought of this I noticed I could mix and match, but I'll stick with my original approach: Band: Rush Song: Limelight* Album: "Moving Pictures" *This would actually be 1A, but I wanted to stay consistent, and besides it does trump the other faves in historical terms. #1 overall is "Subdivisions" and 1B is "Vapor Trail", all by the same band. There are a greater number of tracks I like on some of the other individual albums/CDs, but I'm giving in to my sentimental 'time travel' impulse here, and besides quality should go before quantity. [An odd side note - I did eventually hear this through FM, but the first time was on AM! At the time I had no audiophile habits - in fact I was terrified of record stores because in my mind that was bully territory! - and so was pretty much stuck with my Dad or sis' cheesy car radios.] Last edited by Wax Frog; 01-22-2011 at 11:05 PM. |

Thanks for the reminder, Wax. My song choice will have to be "Tom Sawyer" by Rush. The Live version kicks patooki, but this studio mix expresses the song to its core: YouTube - Rush- Tom Sawyer Note Illustro Cado is playing guiter. That guy is just everywhere. It's gonna seem cliche' as well but mine is YouTube - Tool - Ænema [uncut version - hq - fullscreen] actually just the Album Aenima by Tool. I have no idea what song is the best of all time. These are all pretty cool though YouTube - Mr. Bungle - Retrovertigo Music Video (this is a fan video it's stupid) YouTube - Chris Clark - Ted YouTube - Deftones - The Earth YouTube - Circlewave 2 (turn your subwoofer up for this one) I don't know that any of these are the best ever, but they're all pretty cool Last edited by BillyTheAdult; 01-22-2011 at 11:20 PM. |

On your advice, I'll have to find a performance vid (even if I'd not been an introvert, concerts are something I'll never experience, just physically can't handle lots of noise and crowds). Quote:

Since I've already announced that I'm stepping away from the forums, this is the best selection I could offer to sum up my time here. YouTube - Led Zeppelin- Ramble On (STUDIO VERSION) |

Band: Queen Album: Live at Wembley 86 Song: Under Pressure This song is getting alot of air time on the radio here. Maybe due to the job market now? Freddie, really was a entertainer at this live show. YouTube - QUEEN - Under Pressure (Live At Wembley Stadium 1986) |

I have come to love just about everyone on this forum and feel a warm kinship with them, and always will. Remember: there's no such place as "far away". Don't get your hopes up yet, though: I'm still in yer craw. Last edited by royster; 01-23-2011 at 01:50 AM.

Oh it's just too hard to answer!! And yes, I did and still do listen to FM. Radio, people. I only buy MP3 players that get FM. Radio. Even my Droid has a radio app. Cool! Radio, people. Listen.... Ok, I have to weigh in with the Rush nerds. So awesomely cool, yet so appealing to those who aren't Favorite Rush song, live version of Red Barchetta. Cause I'm a car lover too. U2, Van Hagar, Pink Floyd, some of my favorite albums. Albums, people. On VINYL. With jackets that have artwork on them. God I'm old..... |

My turn - [scratches, coughs] "You young whippersnappers and your IStations and XPods! When ah wuz yer age, ah had ta walk 20 miles through ice an' snow ta git to a video ARRR-caaade!" This may be blasphemy, but the only DLR-era VH tune (among the ones I've heard) I ever cared alot for was "I'll Wait" - like I said, former synth addict - and I've always wished I could have an instrumental version of it instead! I didn't dislike DLR, but I thought Sammy and VH were better together. 5150 is still in my top 5 list. If you want to see, ahem, mature rockers, in still pretty fine form, check out Chickenfoot. |

Uncomplicated and very listenable - would've fit right in with 80s FM rock, in a good way! For some strange reason, I suddenly feel moved to share my latest accepted-by-amiright.com parody! More great albums: The Who: Who's Next Framption Comes Alive Guns n Roses: Appetite for Destruction Heavy Metal Soundtrack Boston: First album. Yeah I know, totally overplayed, but there's a reason it's still around U2: Joshua Tree Funny how I can't think of anything in the last ten years that comes close. Is it a generational thing? Or is rock really that lame these days. |

We have a pretty good station out here (KPRI) that plays new stuff, old stuff, whatever they want. They are independent, not a big corp. Just nothing seems as big as, say a Led Zepplin, or Stones. At least not in main stream rock. Or am I missing something?
