If I'd actually make the purchase from Amazon, I'd be listening to this a lot right now:

Death: Keep on Knocking.

It's the '70s Detroit punk band Death, not the later death-metal Death. They recorded half an album in 1975 before the record company pulled the plug on them for refusing to change the band's name to something more palatable. Way ahead of their time in so many ways.

Since I don't have the recently rereleased 'arf-album from Death, I've been listening to a lot of Gentle Giant for some reason. I was way into prog rock 20 years ago, and occasionally I like to revisit.

Prog was, in general, always sort of weird, but there was something about Gentle Giant that seemed even more bizarre than most. Compare Yes' "Siberian Khatru" to a song like "Pantagruel's Nativity." Yes seemed positively normal alongside that slab of weird.

I also love how they tended to have shorter songs, almost always under 5 minutes, and often enough under 4. I like that they could be instrumentally talented without the need to solo for ten minutes each.

Yeah he's talented. But I personally just.. love the idea of someone passing by on a perfect day and encountering this man. Nothing wrong with saying it's scary, I think. Nothing wrong with it being scary either, even though it's possibly taken out of its context, but I've laughed until I had trouble breathing by this, several times and absolutely no offense..
