I've been holding this one in as not to taint the results. The suspense has been killing me though. Over a week ago, someone repped me and my rep got to a rather hilarious number... 199. One rep point from three squares. I thought, "Oh heck, no biggie. Someone will bounce me up a point soon enough!". I'm not a total rep whore but hey, rep is fun! Days pass and no rep. I start getting a bit antsy. Staring at that 199, I consider talking about it. I couldn't do that though... What if someone pity repped? No good. More days pass. I'm staying home from work to create posts just in case someone sees it and puts me out of my misery. I hit User CP. Holy ****! Someone repped me! Grey square!?! Argh! More days go by. Hope is waning. Another rep, another grey square. I'm staying in bed longer. I stop shaving and hardly eat. My wife begins to worry. More days yet... Hope is lost. I start to go back to my authentic self and talk about how I moonlight as a tranny stripper named "Tuk Tuk". Ladies and gentlemen, that was the post that carried me to three green squares. Who says humor is dead? |

LOL! Holy crap, you has rep power of 28 points! That's incredible! The board gods are not allowing me to return the favor right now. For you OR Mounds. Somebody show up that I haven't repped yet, though, and I'll pay it forward. |

Ya know what? Screw it. If a mod or admin see's this and has the ability, care to disable my rep? I want to let me posts speak for themselves, not my little green squares

Oooooooh ooooooh Gimmie. please. I mean as long as it's just lying around and your not using it or anything. Incidentally Mounds as I sit here begging for rep. I have shared the feelings of "why even have rep." I see when people put +1 for certain posts and I'll be like "really, you gave that rep." and often enough the things I get it for are silly (though I still love it) i feel like it often, but not always, has to do with the which forum members are you in a forum clique with. Only maybe twice have I written what I considered to be a great post and gotten rep for it. Usually things I write that I think are awesome get passed over and people give it to me for some cheesy one liner I made or something (keep it coming though) I noticed Steve's is disabled and more interestingly I notice Erin's isn't but she only has one bar. I don't really frequent Erin's part of the forum honestly but, one bar? really? I can't even believe that. I also noticed recently Plays With Life only has one bar which I found hard to believe considering how much people love him.And several members here who have been members for years and have thousands of post are at one bar. I really don't believe that they haven't made enough good posts in that time. So I encourage everyone to give rep. more liberally and to really spread it around to everyone not just your forum friends. Go out of your way to spread to those you don't normally interact with if they make a good post. |

I would say yes, it's bad form. I have heard someone else complain of this recently. I don't think we should even have the option to take rep. So while I think it's dumb they did it to you, I don't think retaliation is the answer.

I agree, I don't like that we can just take rep. I think it's much nicer when people tell me the issues they have with my posts (and I like PMs for that, too)...mostly because it's exciting to see new private messages.

And thank you, Wolfgang -- that had me feeling very nice. I was thinking it was a matter of time that keeps us from rep-reps (repeat reputations

Repping is fun! Especially when it's free reign to rep as much as you want. I used to hold entire conversations with people through the rep system on another board. Nobody ever cared about the number or the little green squares or anything. It was just a fun way to interact with people. And very different that the usual channels. I love reading rep comments. They are like little undiscovered nuggets of gold that you stumble upon when you go into change something in your profile.
