I was just thinking about some funny things that happened when I was in school. Although these things happened years back, they are still green in my memory. I thought of sharing one of the incidents with you guys. My English teacher was a huge fan of an actor. He used to come to our class and ask us if we watched that actors new film. If we said no, he would cane us!! I was put up in one of the best schools in my city and having a teacher like him in that school was really weird!! |

Oh no, we had that too. Being beaten with the wooden ruler. And on the knuckles if we were too bad! I always thought it wasn't so in the western countries. Yeah the kids now are lucky! Some of the schools let students make anonymous comments about how they really feel about the teacher, so the teacher is even NICER to them!

| You must have went to the same school as me! I have been subjected to: being whacked over the knuckles with a ruler had my head banged together with another pupil had the classroom duster thrown at me from a distance ( hard backed duster) been held up for ridicule more times than I care to remember watched many a class mate suffer the same as me humiliation, humiliation all the way |

Teachers were brutal in my days at school, not just for me but for everyone. It's only when you look back or compare with children of today that you realise the treatment we received at their hands was all wrong. Not the best environment to learn in. But I dont need physchological help, thank you very much

I had a few disturbing episodes coming back from kindergarten. How the teacher made a child get all his boogers in a spoon and then eat it...how she made an other one climb onto a table and smeared his feces in his face in front of everyone (because he'd had an "accident" in his pants)... that woman has accumulated quite some karma in her teaching years (she had my own mother as a pupil, and to my mother she used to quickly send her to the naughty corner (even though she had not misbehaved) each time the local priest visited so as to tell the priest "that girl is a bad little girl").

Yes there were some really rotten teachers at school, it's amazing we survived. There was always a good one though. I had a gem of an English teacher who always praised me and gave me top marks. His name was Mr Lawson and I loved that teacher.

Wow... and you're younger than me so that mustn't have been THAT long ago (relatively speaking!) When I was in the youngest years of primary school in Australia, you were still able to cane kids... but I never heard of any kids in my year getting caned, although I heard about it in some of the "older" kids, probably Grade 4 and up! I do remember getting smacked on the hand with the ruler a few times... but that's about it. I'm not sure when caning became banned, but it must have been sometime in the early 80s, because by the time I was sort of in the middle years of primary school I never heard of anyone getting caned again! It's just something I vaguely remember from my youngest years.
