Do any of you love the v series? Own the old one?

when i was a kid, oh how i loved Diana. took character lessons from her......well i did grow up and now i preceive her personality as flawed and childislyh ambitious.

anyway...I simply worship the new Anna though i dont quite care for her "evil" but i love her attention to details.... she is almost precognitve...

if anyone would like to geek out with me and discuss many of the deeper themes the show presents...that might be swell.

I haven't watched any of the V series. Is it anything like Alien Nation? I like the latter series as it fictionalizes what life would be like if aliens were to live amongst humans. It goes beyond just demonizing aliens as 'bad guys' out to get humans. Besides, it is sort of humourous. They are required to take 'Earth names' after leaving their ship and they keep naming them selves after famous people, like Alberta Einstein or Charlotte Bronte

love Alien natione to.. i even invented a code that mimiced their speech and writing... my name onsev and my friend's veniufufse....

but in the new V yes they are evil........but they are so freakin good at it. The dialouge is almost a text book study of fassiusm and resistance...of human crowd manipulation.

in the old 80's version it was biased to glorifying the rebels, and made the visitors out as petty intriuge and ambition. I find the the nw V's characters speak very carefully and with dramatic inflections and if you follow the plot wow.....

Awesome. Have you tried getting drunk off of bad milk as well? Alien Nation had a good balance between humour and seriousness. I've been meaning to track down the old series of V, but you seem to be of the opinion that the new series is much better than the older one?

i say they have their own merits. The old one showed the powerfull message of fight to stop evil. The jewish man who told his son " if we do not help these "fugitives" then we will not have learned a thing.

of course now i might look back at it as corney. SO our heart strings got tugged..lets sigh in unicon for the holochast. and preform the same actions they did hiding others and not makeing a sinlge wave to prevent it...

but....so what i can say is i think i have more respct for the plot layers in the new one.

and i never geeked out that badly....and tried sour milk but i still fear oceans.

Turns out that my mother has the old version on VCR some where. So I'll be watching that one first. Do you like the X Files as well? I found it entertaining, but it didn't seem to have any serious underlying political discourse behind it like AN did. One of my classmates is a die hard fan though; her geekiness is so charming

ida know ask the trekkies. Come to think of it, alien natrion carried a more parental theme for me. I enjoyed studing their family relations and culture mechanics.

if you dont mind, i wont be joining you in your old v-athon....but can still speak by memory. it is just i am totally shifted into the new v world.

Exfiles......... i liked them when they where new but last two or three seasons lost interest.
