Default Arizona dwellers?

Has anyone lived or currently reside in Arizona? I have some questions about purchasing property.

Reason I ask is that Arizona is a bug collectors dream. Tarantulas and the pepsis wasps hunting them... monster centipedes... scoprions... hercules beetles. It simply doesn't get better.
I'm looking to snap between 5-10 acres, preferably within an hour or two of Peyson. Any thoughts on price/acre and such?

We get down to -35 F, which is pretty horrible. I would take the heat over the cold any day

That is pretty hot though. We get some brutal heat in Manitoba as well but it's a different kind of heat. Very humid, which can make it even worse.

Where I just came from was 130
Well, I spent 9 years in the Bullhead City (Hardyville) / Fort Mohave area, and around there there was a lot of property for sale, but I believe all of the properties I saw were commercial use only.

130? Yeah, alright. No wonder there was a lot of property for sale.

If you had a place in Arizona, you'd be shooting distance from San Diego, you could come out here like the other zonies when it gets too hot.

I live just West of Phoenix , it got 122 f for a couple of days 15 - 20 years ago , but it is a "dry heat " . You might check with local real estate angents on land . I have seen land on e-bay . There were also gold clame property on e-bay , all you get is the right to the menrals , but the critters would go with the land . Not the Gilla monstor , it is protected by fedral law , dont mess with gilla monsters . I was only in Payson once and I dont remember about the bugs . Most of the northen part of Arizona in forest , and there are a lot of realy neat little towns . As I remember Payson it is more of a turist trap , like Sedona . If it were me, I would get an r.v., van , camper or 5th wheel trailer and 4x4 p.u. and just wounder around . desert rat

It is really beautiful. I've only been to Sedona a few times, one for recreational reasons, I went to "Slippery Rock". A small little stream with what I believe was moss covered flagstone or red rock. You can't walk across without falling Oatman is also cool, unless you live right next to it. So bugs are what you are after, I would do as Desertrat says and maybe just travel.

There is property for sale here in Arizona , the price makes a big difference if it is bare land , or is improved in some way . The north part of AZ is mostly forest and mountains , the south part is mostly desert . There are different critters in different parts of the state , some bite and sting . Gila monster - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Gila Monster (DesertUSA) Crotalus atrox - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Western Diamondback Rattlesnake Western Diamondback Rattlesnake - DesertUSA If you wounder around in a warm dry desert , know what you are doing , a few of the critters can kill you , always have plenty of water . It is easy to get lost away from main roads , and many people do . desert rat

I wouldn't wander too far off the beaten path. I usually travel highways until I see a nice habitat and pull over. I'm generally pretty good about that. I think next summer I'll visit Arizona and nab some of those Western Hercules Beetles from the north end of the state.
I'll definitely hit the south too, although I'm not as familiar with where to go.
