| Akinator Think of ANY character, person even if you think it's ridiculous that he would find it, and answer yes/no/I dunno questions.. so far he has found almost everything I've thought of. WARNING: you wanna try a new character everytime, so you might get addicted. |

Just did it, he guessed right. Even pulled up a picture of him. Bender from Futurama. I loved the last questions: Does your character drink? Does your character smoke cigars? Has your character been to space? Love it. |

Couldn't get an NBA player from the '60s and '70s who wasn't a huge star, but zeroed in and suggested two other guys on the same team. Interesting. I was pleased that it got Scout in To Kill a Mockingbird on the first try. |

I'll give that Virtual Seer some credit, as it got pretty close to the presumably-obscure SF character I hit it with (my memory is scary good, as I've said). The character is Errit Stattor, the benificent-in-his-own mind, utterly horrible dictator of an imagined future star-spanning human civilization ["In the Realm of the Heart, In the World of the Knife"]. The program came up with Baron Vladimir Harkonnen. Not too shabby... When I did my big old-book cleanout, this story was one of several in one anthology good enough to spare it from the purge. I like this particular story because it used to drive me nuts, having the bad guy "win", but I sensed something under the surface and so kept at it. It took at least half a dozen rereads, over the span of a few years, before I realized just what the author was up to, and when it clicked for me it was a real nifty "aha!" moment. Ha, it totally got Isaac Asimov (asked me a lot of questions about him, though). I could tell it was getting it right when it started asking things like... "Did your character write a story that was adapted for a movie?" "Did your character write about robotics?" It got Phoebe from Charmed like 10x faster. Very cool and fun. Thanks, Jon, for sharing. |
