Lynn = my name

007 = the year I joined the forum and also a James Bond reference of adventure. Lynn's adventure in PD.

Tulips= I love tulips. Even when tulips are closed you sense something really exciting is happening on the inside but you can only see the tip of the bud. Once they bloom; we are exposed to a proud, colourful and vibrant flower that doesn't offer any other features. We can't eat them; they don't have a particular scent - they have just opened themselves up to share their beauty with us.
Tulips remind me to be open and share myself so everyone can see me and also they serve as a reminder we are all tulips. Some of us just take a bit longer to bloom.

Invisible Houses comes from the last line of a (don't laugh) poem I wrote in high school. Something about "inaudible screams from invisible houses."

Anyway, I always liked the look and sound of those words together, and I've used it since then as the name for a lot of things I've done, mostly musical in nature.

The photo is of me in the observation car of the City of New Orleans train last fall. I've got a different hat now.

I won't laugh: that's a great line! (I write poetry, too...that line lends itself to lots of possibility).

Do you still have the poem, and would you share it?

I take it that people who live in invisible houses don't have to fuss about throwing stones?

Can't remember it, and I'm not sure there are any surviving copies. I'd have to dig.

I actually kept that particular string of dactyls in a poetry "junk drawer" and tried it in several different poems that ended up on the heap. I know the first one was called "The End" and it rhymed with something about "chloroform cats chase kaleidoscope mouses" or something. It dates back to age 16 or 17; I was just coming out of a "teen poet experiments with words" phase and entering my infamous "imitate Captain Beefheart" year.

I never noticed until I got older how deeply the metric structures of A Child's Garden of Verses by Robert Louis Stevenson had influenced how I write verse (which is songs these days).

Nope; their main problem is how to take a shower without having their bits on display.

Thanks for th' share, I/H. Perhaps you can take those lines and start a new poem...they're too awesome to pass up!

They have a sort of "everyone's gone to the moon" feel about them.

Ahahaha! Touche!

I'm 5'5 and female, so pretty average height. And not particularly hairy, either! But I'm fond of short names - perhaps because my real life name is 579837530 letters long.

Back in 2005 I was creating an account for a gaming website. Since I didn't get the preferred id I wanted, I tried "spider" seeing Google open in another tab. (Google sends spiders to crawl the web and add pages to it's database). Predictably, that was taken. I then went for spiderguy but that sounded a little cheezy to me. Looking up at the wall clock in my room, it read 2:52 PM. It was a digital clock so '2' and '5' looked like mirror images of each other. So I then capitalized the 's' and made it Spiderguy252. It stuck. I've never created an account with another name since.

This one I just downloaded probably won't last long: no one wants some smart-assed kid starin' at 'em. But that's me, at age 9 or ten, trying hard to hide my braces.

Braces were different back in the mid-60's: they were primarily the front bumpers from Volkswagan Beetles sledge-hammered around your teeth. Every month I went to the dungeon, and Igor would tighten the wire in them a little bit. But I never confessed or denounced my faith in donuts. I just smiled: I knew I'd be an adult, some day. I still know that. Someday.

The coffee stains are authentic.

Yes, of course it's a clip-on tie.
