  |  Great Moments in Dadhood....
Today was my daughter's first day of school (pre-K). It's kind of a sobering moment to be standing there and watching them get onto the bus, going out into the world for the first time to create themselves. I didn't cry, but I am just a little sad, thinking that my little girl is growing up so damn fast. I'm also excited and waiting to see what kind of woman she grows up to be. I consider that to be one of the more somber moments in being a Dad. Now for a couple of more humorous ones... (J is my son, A is my daughter) J: Daddy, want to see a magic trick? Me: Sure. J: Ok, close your eyes *close my eyes and feel him rooting around in my pocket, then he stops* J: Ok, now open your eyes and check your pocket. *I reach into my pocket and pull out a toy car* J: Tada! Magic! Me: You must be some kind of wizard. The other day, after getting them from day care: Me: You know, A, your friend's mom is kind of hot. A: Daddy, you're gross. Don't talk about girls like that. Yesterday: Me: Hey, A, can I have a hug and a mooch? A: You'll have to come back later, I'm kinda busy right now. Five years and she'll be pwning me.  |

My son: I'm smarter than a 2nd grader. Me: the real question is, are you smarter than a 5th grader? My son: yes! Ask me any question and I'll answer it. Me: what's the air speed of an unladen swallow? My son: ... Me: Daddy: 1, [my son]: 0. |
