No advice, no tips, no tricks, no techniques...just rants. You don't have to listen if you don't want. You don't have to see the other point of view. The beauty in this party is that we can just *be* rants without feeling the need to fix them. If you want to join in, feel free, but keep yer advice for other threads. I'll start... *** Rant: This is from a discussion on politics I had with my parents (rightwing conservatives) the other night. They kept talking about how bad Obama is doing as a president, about how he's taking our country down the tubes, and that we need to vote him out as soon as possible. And then they said something about how he's a Muslim. And I rolled my eyes and told them that they need to stop getting their information from email forwards. That if you go to Snopes, that you can see that most of these things are proven false. I then ranted about how I saw somebody post a picture of Obama on facebook of him not saluting the flag and how it was debunked because the reason he wasn't saluting had nothing to do with the Veterans (which is what the picture was supposed to show), but because they were playing "Hail to the Chief" and that THEY were saluting HIM (Obama). Which brings me to my rant...don't you just HATE email forwards and the amount of ignorance that gets passed around on a daily basis? And people get so incited by it without even bothering to check the validity of the claim! It's like, we'll believe ANYTHING so long as it supports our own beliefs and views. |

And another one. Honey, could you please come to my office as rarely as possible? Did you hear of the word "efficiency"? Instead of coming 10 times with 10 different papers, could you please come only one time and bring all of them? And, yes, if you see someone in my office discussing something, could you please turn around and come later and not choose to stay and talk with us? I hate, and i really mean HATE when people do the "pop in". Especially if they are not my best friends, if I'm in the middle of nursing, and if my load of delicate is drying in front of the fire place. I also hate phone calls late evening when the kids are finally asleep. |

Try chucking a good sized paperweight at his head. I find this is effective and he gets the message the FIRST time.

I hate when my boss tells me to fetch my ****ing ♥♥♥♥♥ colleague for a meeting that she is already late for. I especially hate it when she tosses a heavy paperweight at me. I also hate my boss bitching at me afterwards because I didn't get around to telling her about the meeting she was already late for. Particularly when my boss calls me on the phone because I'm lying in hospital with a head wound. Next time, I'll bring a damn shotgun. |

Haha yes I don't like getting forwards, mostly because many of them require Windows or take too long to get to the funny part and I don't like the feeling of just being part of a "select all" action - I'm a beautiful snowflake, dangit!! Okay so I am a bit annoyed with certain social patterns, like schmoozy salesmanishness and yes I'm making up words! I have a part-time employment opportunity coming up but the person who is connecting me with it created a sense of immediacy about it and I think this was salesmanishness so meanwhile I am just waiting but annoyed because she presented it like it was happening very soon when realistic expressions about timing would have been really much nicer!! Oh and that also relates to how silly I think it is that our culture leads to asking questions for the ritual act. Like when someone asks how are you doing. We don't ask to actually get the honest answer, and I think this doesn't encourage authenticity! It encourages masks... while many are totally fine with that, I think our realness is beautiful! And I'll admit, if someone asks me that question right after I had an experience that pulls me off my center, I find myself with a strong desire to answer honestly. I often switch to give the socially appropriate answer, but I don't like tapping into that self-control, and would prefer it if the culture did not use questions for this stuff where there's the implication to not be honest unless you happen to genuinely feel wonderful/blessed/fine in that moment. Oh, and I don't like living in an area that has such a crappy reputation. My state was used in a bump on Adult Swim last night as the fattest state for the fifth year in a row or something. That's lame. And they need to change the pricing for HFCS so people aren't getting fatter because they can only afford that cheaply made, highly-processed food. Oh... speaking of that state.... I find it annoying when I come across people, such as a couple I'm quite close to, who are pro-Reagan and pro-bootstrap mentality BUT they ALSO draw social assistance from the government. Um... that's ridiculous. |

I called you. I got your voice mail. You asked me to leave a message. And then a robot felt the need to explain to me exactly how to leave such message and what to do when I was finished leaving the message. I KNOW HOW TO LEAVE A ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ MESSAGE!! I KNOW THAT I SHOULD HANG UP WHEN I’M DONE!! |

How about those businesses where you call and they have it set up sneakily so dialing zero to get a live person makes it hang up on you! That's so lame! What about their elderly patrons who aren't used to all of this voice menu navigation and are calling from a rotary phone!! (Or folks like me who just want to go ahead and talk to a real person

Here's one that gigi's made me think of: My mom puts a scripture as part of her answering machine message. So, not only is it like "HERE HAVE SOME RELIGION WITH YOUR PHONE CALL", but it makes the damn message go on FOREVER. Because directly after the scripture, she tells me the number that I have dialed (yes, she says, you have reached (xxx)xxx-xxxx as if I didn't KNOW that I JUST DIALED that number!), instructs me to leave a message (after the beep of course!) and that she will get back to me as soon as possible. And I'm sitting there tapping my foot like COME ON! I GOT STUFF TO DO! Leaving large messages as your recordings is like "Hey, how can I take up as much of your time as possible?" LOL |

I just wrote out a whole long whiny rant, and then before I hit "submit reply" I noticed the rantiness and whininess had disappeared. It didn't make sense to me any longer to "submit" it to the world, because there was nothing there any more. Goddddammit. |

FML ![]() I post a message on YouTube at a high-traffic video announcing my singlehood, and not even one reply. The video is "How to Make Guys Like You", and seems a perfect place to post such a message. I thought for sure I'd get a bunch of replies. So much for that LoA B.S. EDIT: OK. Feeling a little better after listening to some Sade. YouTube - SADE - PLEASE SEND ME SOMEONE TO LOVE - LYRICS Last edited by Zach M; 07-23-2010 at 01:05 AM. |

I also hate when people pick on their physically inferiors. I was on the bus just a week ago when this obviously mid-20 something was threatening this group of 15-16 year olds. They apparently refused him a cigarette and he was threatening to fight the kid!!! I flip out when I see this kind of thing, and I happened to be sitting directly between the two, and when the 20-something jumped out of his seat as though he was about to pounce, I bolted out of my seat, said to him "back the **** up" and he had the gull to threaten me!!!! I grabbed him, whipped him down the isle, and tossed him off the bus to the street. I figured I was equally physically superior to him as he was to the kids, so a taste of his medicine was in order. I know I resorted to the behavior I hate, but I thought it was justified.

I don't want any advice, cause I'm extremely sure that I'll just say "That doesn't work" or "You dont' understand" or "!@#$#%&@" or something similar... I still want to get this off my chest. I feel a very strong resistance against EVERYTHING right now. I feel bad for spending too much money every month so we cannot save (yeah yeah, a choice, bla bla bla... Right now, it feels as if we CANNOT). I know I am supposed to bring in money as well, but I don't. I got a pretty harsh rejection letter for one of my writings. That is hitting me pretty hard. I feel like I am failing my husband for making him solely responsible for the income. I just basically feel like crap today. I almost wanted to scream to Angela even... Just because what she said was something I disagreed with... How absolutely horrible is that? Oh well... Hopefully a weekend in the sun with some friends will help calm me down a bit. Right now I feel like I want to just break everybodies neck... (I'm a bit PMS'y as well... as you may have guessed). |

Now that I come to think about it... it is more likely that this is the result of not eating candy and greasy stuff for the last 3 days. I want to go downstairs and get something to snack. RIGHT NOW! I dont' care if I have to loose weight. One little icecream cannot hurt? Can it? Of course it can. I hate the fact that all the good tasting food is bad for you!! Why cannot I not enjoy all the chocolate that I want and all the ice cream that I want and all the chips that I want and still be healthy and thin?? LIFE IS NOT FAIR!! |

My taste buds are doing some strange things lately. Everything fresh, veggies, fruit etc tastes rotten to me... Not to others, just to me.... Doesn't really help making a healthy diet choice...
