What's it doin' in your neck of the woods?

Forecast calls for twelve inches of snow Friday through Saturday...on top of the existing 5". A horrid rumor is spreading that we might get 40".

Sympathy to DerekMB and falnangl4u in Missourri, which is getting pelted right now.

It is bizarre that Virginia is getting almost as much snow as upstate NY, isn't it? We just got finished digging out from a foot of lake-effect snow up here. Actually had a bit of a thaw today, oddly enough, but it didn't last. Nothing more than flurries in our forecast for the next few days, although the skiing and snowmobiling is great right now!

I would happily take 40 inches of snow here. This has been a snowless winter except for one good dump which got washed away a week later. Better one good storm than none.. but seriously bring on the big storms.

It's been really hot all week, but it's a bit cooler today, with rain. Still really humid, though, which is quite unusual for the area. At least the garden will like the rain.

Looking out my window, I've got light snow flurries and it's overcast. It looks to be about 20 degrees F out. Nothing more than snow showers in the forecast, although there is no thaw in sight either.

That's a heavy frost for around here. I hope your county has at least one snowplough to help you dig out.

Around here, it's sunny, a balmy 8 degrees F, and no chance of snow until Wednesday.

24" with more on the way, I'm already running on emergency generator power.
Heavy snow and moderate breezes are taking down tree limbs and power lines.

Don't worry about my cat; he's fine. Aren't you, Sir?

Well, my cat is a bit cold right now. I don't know why he's complaining though. He was born up here and should be used to it by now, while I'm here in the frozen wasteland by choice.

Don't you wish that your blizzard happened during the week, so you might be able to get a snow day off from work?

Default There's NEVER a "day off"

I'm self-employed in home improvement; I work when there's work. Actually, I worked as far as I could yesterday so the client would have their living room back during this storm. They DO appreciate that; that's the room their big-screen t.v. is in...football Sunday, I understand (I don't care for sports).

Since I'm running the generator for the refrigerator, I'm able to visit for a while.

Yeah, we've got about 30+ inches out there. It started yesterday at about 9AM and it's just now tapering off and quitting.

I've shoveled snow twice in the past 24 hours and I just got in again and I am sweating like a frikin banshee and tired. I forsee a nice, long shower in my future and a weekend of being holed up inside. I do intend to go for a nice walk in about an hour, though. Gotta go play in this stuff a little bit.

We topped out at 28" of snow, a low tonight of 12 degrees Farenheit (possibly as low as 4). Our high tomorrow: 30, with sunshine.

Chocolate supplies running dangerously low; will have to start on the caramel rations.

All roads in the Northern Shenandoah Valley should have gotten at least one pass through by Virginia Department of Transportation plows by noon today, according to spokeswoman Sandy Myers."

Of course, MY road is the last one they get to (really). I' VERY remote, and one of the few who use that stretch of county road.

I hope no one is offended, but because the Winter Olympics (drumroll, please) are opening in Vancouver on Friday, and we are suffering from a lack of snow, all the Weather Gods are assembled here. Greedy Easterners who have stolen our snow will be bombarded with the fleas of a thousand camels for threatening the International Olymic Committee's profits. Mud skating and water skiing are being arranged, wheels will adorn the bobsleds and there will be a bikini competition. Visitors are trading their brandy flasks for suntan lotion. Can you dig it, Royster?

Yes, Tony, I can dig it...and dig it...and dig it some more.
My understanding is that the bikini competition is to be combined with the mud wrestling. That might not be the best attraction...
