No ideas?? Not a single voyeur or native-born to the southern continent of the Western hemisphere?

I am in shock!

Sorry... I can give you tons of tips on Mexico and Guatemala (and tell you to stay away from inland Belize) but not much on South America.

My husband has been there on business and he sais that Santiago de Chile (in Chile) is very beautiful, Buenos Aires (Argentina) as well but Sao Paolo (Brazil) is very ugly.

I am considering leaving Brazil for a future trip - not only is it so HUGE & there is enough to fill a month by itself, but 1 language is a plenty enough for me to learn at the present time.....

You're the 2nd person to mention Santiago de Chile - I'll look into that.
Buenos Aires is a definite yes for me.. I have to spend some time there.

I def recommend Colombia - Rosario islands - paradise! Parque Tayrona - must-see And Cartagena de Indias - full of history, salsa and rum

I also heard Chile is great

Cuba? (this is my dream)

p.s. 3 months... I'm jealous )

Default Colombia

A friend of mine spent some time travelling around South America and was really taken with Colombia, he liked the energy and joy of the people.

ps - No Colombia or Cuba though - I don't know how my USA passport would be accepted in certain parts of those countries.

For Cuba, you'd need a visa, but it is a great nice country and I've never heard of anything against Americans, at least not against tourist Americans.

Carnivale is coming up soon in Rio...that's gotta be one helluva party not to be missed if you're in the general vicinity.

Costa Rica, from all accounts, is stunning...as is Bolivia, which is less popular with the tourists, and therefore more unspoilt than some of the popular destinations.

Thank you all for your suggestions.
Costa Rica IS nice... once you get out of San Jose.
I would REALLY like to see Bolivia. I hear so many positive things about it. I don't know if I'll have time though.
Carnival in Rio is out. Not this year...
Maybe Cuba can be another trip. I have heard nice things about it, once you get past the political tensions.
