Sorry... I can give you tons of tips on Mexico and Guatemala (and tell you to stay away from inland Belize) but not much on South America. My husband has been there on business and he sais that Santiago de Chile (in Chile) is very beautiful, Buenos Aires (Argentina) as well but Sao Paolo (Brazil) is very ugly.

I am considering leaving Brazil for a future trip - not only is it so HUGE & there is enough to fill a month by itself, but 1 language is a plenty enough for me to learn at the present time.....  You're the 2nd person to mention Santiago de Chile - I'll look into that. Buenos Aires is a definite yes for me.. I have to spend some time there. |

A friend of mine spent some time travelling around South America and was really taken with Colombia, he liked the energy and joy of the people.
