On watching the Making of of STTNG Season 1, particularly "Mission Logs - Year 1 - The Beginning", I felt again this sense of exploration, of moving into uncharted territory, of adventure. How can this sense of wonder, of being the first to do something and go someplace, be transferred to spiritual discovery and enlightenment? How can this be transformed into something that opens up the realms of the soul and self-improvement for a format that enchants a broad populace? How can I make a "Star Trek of Spirituality"? I'm going to throw this in here, under fun and recreation, and make a shared writing fun event out of it. I'll give you a first glimpse of what ideas sprang to my mind: Possible plot: A man and a woman, soulmates, who get drawn towards each other and meet in a series of what seem to be coincidences but aren't. They are the main characters, and "in the astral", they can "merge" into a singular being that they are the halves of. This being is more knowledgeable, more powerful but also less caring about humans, seeing a bigger picture (much like Clark Kent's kryptonian father in the series "Smallville"). This being saves the day in the first adventure, but at the cost of several human lives the pair loved dearly. They vow to never merge again, even though the being tells their friends that death is not an end, and that basically nothing was lost at all. The further adventures will deal with the learning process of how these different levels of existence work, and with their voyage of self-discovery. Notable incidents might include OOBEs, meeting "the watcher by the threshold", and eventually, by the end of the first season, a second merging of the two, accepting the possible consequences, but realizing the necessity and the greater good. The basic idea of the project would be to transport a sense of continuous wonder and amazement, of new roads opening, all the while teaching without teaching the basics of spiritual self-discovery. Are you still with me? Good! What do you think? What are your ideas?

I'd watch it...maybe. I haven't sat thru many movies, especially star trek anything..so I really wouldn't be able to give you an honest or educated opinion of this idea. But, mark me down a point for participation in the thread, ok?? lol Blessings, Rebecca

lol agreed. Thank you for the feedback...but this isn't really about Star Trek except for that sense of exploration and discovery. This wonder of what lies around that next corner. Putting that context around the basic idea...what do you think of the plot draft?

I think your plot draft is similar to the reality of those with gifts. I think that now, I am not the only one (finally) who comes up with these questions about my reality, and then when the thought of putting them in published form arises....here comes the thought of making it easier on myself and publishing under the guise of fiction. Is this what is happening to you? Blessings, Rebecca

No. I'm just realizing that fiction is where you get "first traction". Medium. Ghost Whisperer. Supernatural. All TV series dealing with the paranormal. Things like this are slowly becoming "acceptable" parlor talk. The number of people labeling you "crazy" aren't as overwhelmingly large anymore as they used to be even ten, twenty years ago. Who would this be for? Predominantly for those young people who sense there is something more "out there", especially those who discover they experience "odd" things. They will be looking for explanation and validation. Plus, even though it is "fiction", if it is made to be "realistic fiction" in the sense that it shows and describes the paranormal the way people actually experience it, they will identify with it, and have an easier time accepting this part of themselves. Hell, I know I thought I had some very strange and unlikely beliefs about how the universe works for a long time. And there weren't that many people I felt comfortable mentioning them, or even just HINTING at them for fear of being called a lunatic. All in all...I think what I'd like to give people is this: hope. And a hint of excitement about what might be beyond what we see every day. Or beyond our current dreams and visions. There is always more, and since this is all very individual, it is in many cases truly "where no one has gone before". I can't claim these things as facts and expect them to spread around the world like wildfire (we're getting there, but not quite yet). Make a good entertainment program out of them, though, and you get to both spread the word AND TOUCH PEOPLE. Emotions are powerful. The more you get faced with these kinds of things, the more they "seep in". It will take a long time before this will reach wide-spread acceptance. But if the majority has seen this stuff often enough and intensely enough, their subconscious will "accept" them eventually, and open their minds to the possibility. I'm just rambling right now and writing this out just the way it flows from my mind, so don't expect a well-thought-out concept or idea behind it. So again, no to your original question. It's not to make it easier for me to go through with my "outing". I've been a queer sort of person all my life, so I guess I can handle the ridicule. It's about reaching the people in need who still, despite the internet (wish I'd had that in my youth!), need reassurance, validation, and the message: you are okay. What you experience is okay. It's real (otherwise, how would people know how to make an entertainment program so similar to what you experience?). There are lots of young folks out there in "spirituality hostile territory", with families, friends and communities where they can't really talk to many people (or even anyone), and in general find rejection instead of support. So I think it is important to send a message to people like this (they're going to only get more in number in the coming years), and if some can pick up a little trick or two that helps them figure out their gifts, or to control them better (or learn about protection), then isn't it worth creating something like this? Star Trek fueled many peoples' dreams for generations. "What's out there?" was answered with "lots of great sruff and folks". Why not explore our spiritual nature in the same way as outer space? Roddenberry had a vision of the future, and Star Trek wasn't simply about the "futuristic technology". It was about ideals, about what "humanity" truly means. I think this can be transported over to the inner world.
