Hi all, Ever since I have been made aware of the existence of tatoos, I wanted one. I wanted to wait until I found the perfect picture, which now I have. ![]() Now the only thing is to find the perfect place on my body... I have to take into consideration: - getting bigger and thinner (happens a lot to me, and I might even get pregnant some day) - culture in Mexico. I have to be able to hide it even when it is warm (not because I personally care, but because it might harm my and my husbands career) - I would really like to see it myself as well. My current favorite would be my lower back, with the only drawback of not being able to see it myself... Any opinions? |

your stipulations don't leave a lot of options. there is a negative stereotype for lower back tattoos on women, i don't buy into it but you should know it exists. i have tatts on my lower back, on the back of my neck, on my forearm, and on the outside of my ankle. all of these can be covered with the right clothing (of course, i live in mississippi so there are pretty hot summers here, but most buildings have enough air-conditioning that i can still look professional if i need to. and none of those areas will stretch if i gain weight. you could get it on your foot and not wear sandals in the summer, but i will warn you there is not much padding on the feet, so it could be pretty painful. you could get it on your upper chest, above your boobs, but i imagine that is not a very aesthetic place for a tattoo. hmm... you could get it shrunken to a smaller size and have it inked onto your wrist, and just keep a stock of thick bracelets for when you don't want others to see it. hope you find something satisfactory for the location. p.s. i like aggie's idea too. |

I see the rose on your back, right on top of the C7 vertebra, (click C7 to see where that is) with the woven part going down your spine. You could see that one, with the use of a couple of mirrors! Easy to hide, as well, though I'd encourage you NOT to hide it - negative opinions can only change when people are brave enough to show who they really are.

I am getting one on my forearm in a few weeks because I want to be able to see it there were some people at work yesterday that I was discussing this with and the guy said that he did not like tattoo's on a woman and the girl said she liked them but they might not like that here -meaning my bosses I am still going to do it anyway ! if you want to be able to see it then put it on your forearm but you have to be the one to decide I really like the what you are going to do ! |

Thanks everyone, I agree that normally I would not care what other people think. Actually... i Really do not care what other people think But, my husband does have a veto right on what I do to my body (and I on his body, mutual agreement) and he does not want it to effect his professional life or mine. I like the idea of having it on my back (what carenkh wrote) but I would not like it that I am not able to see it. It will be a reminder of who I am, and that it is ok to be who and what I am, whatever that may be. The book where it comes from (Kushiel´s series from Jacqueline Carey) gave me that shift, plus I really like the rose like this!. |

Family is important. If he has an important function or diner or wedding etc and I have a visible tatoo and his clients would be there, it could hurt him. Like I said.. we both have veto rights on eachothers body, no matter what the reasons. | |
