| I find a lovely way to spend a bit of time on a lazy evening (come on, we're allowed them occassionally!) is just browsing random internet sites and reading articles on a range of eclectic subjects. A great way to discover new things I never realised I was interested in, and lots of coversation topics aswell. So...does anyone have a favourite blog/site that compiles interesting links like this? I quite enjoy Simplicity (it's nothing to do with me - not a plug, honest!). Equally, Wikipedia's random article feature is very good, as long as you're willing to persevere when you come across a fair bit of dross! :-) |

| I'd suggest checking out the popular sites on Del.icio.us--you can even modify your search by keywords on topics that interest you: del.icio.us

| Stumble Upon! The greatest invention of random surfing EVER. It displays wiki articles, videos, sites, pictures or news with keywords matching areas of interest that YOU'VE chosen, so you only get stuff you're alerady interested in. I've discovered SO many great things with this extension. The Secret (synchronicity), the Samchillian, Scriabin, 3rd movement of the Moonlight Sonata (didn't wipe my cheeks all day) - I can't begin to tell you. It can be found here. You can even customize your stumbles - ie. only stumble video - kinda like TV only with things you're interested in, and no commercials. Or stumble a particular subject (brilliant for doing research) Give it a whirl (don't overdo it though, in the beginning I spent hours random video surfing and laughed myself to tears - japanese gameshows, anyone?). | I agree with Marc completely. I'd have to say that out of all social networking sites/services, StumbleUpon is the absolute best. Why? Because it has an effective system of eliminating spam and unneeded content and the sites I discover are always 'higher quality' than things discovered on metafilter, del.icio.us, etc. It's like web surfing on steroids. Saves the precious time that would be otherwise lost when trying to find a good site about something. |

| I've become a complete advocate of Stumble Upon! Digg is great for occasionally making sure I'm up to date with all the cool memes and interesting sites that the majority of the web is talking about, but for stuff tailored to my personal interests it's great. Exactly what I was looking for, thanks! |
