They look great! OK, so the original pumpkin you posted - was that one made entirely of sculpey clay, or was that one a craft pumpkin w/paper clay also? I really like the technique you're using...and I like the moon one. Keep posting pics! |

[bows deeply] Somehow I had a feeling you'd pop up in here! I'm putting up a new pic, as a sort of progress report. My latest child is delving a bit into 'cute' territory... All the creations I've posted have craft pumpkin "cores"; the older ones are decorated with Sculpey only (Paperclay is proving to be a revelation in many happy ways)... |

| Thanks! I don't have exact figures yet - I am new at this after all; since you've given me an opening, I'll add you to my list of brains to pick - is there a rule of thumb for figuring this? I assume I can do a calculation based on how much time I've spent, but I have no clue what 'value' that time should be assigned...

Oh, then you are going to have to come up with some kind of value for them. See what they're worth to you and then go from there. For instance, if I offered you $1 for one would you part with one? $25? $50? $100? $500?

| Given how much of my heart I've put into them, I definitely couldn't see them going for less than 50. After that it gets kind of gray, finding the balance between how much my 'gut' tells me they might be worth, and how much a buyer would be willing to pay. A rather 'right-brained' twist on the old supply and demand formula...

| Ooooh, no, I am not going to do any Jar-Jar knockoffs!!! Once again, thank you! [adds cacheborn to his deep-bow list] I've posted a couple updates... Last edited by Wax Frog; 09-23-2009 at 02:52 AM. |

[bows deeply to Miz Link] Another photo update pending - at last AB and the unnamed sun figure have their base coats and highlighting applied! I'll put that one right in the thread! |

Wax - you have a specific style to your work...I can't put my finger on it but I feel like I could pick out your work if it were placed in a gallery with other artists. OK, I know you're getting off the computer please so don't feel like you have to respond - I just wanted to mention that |

As far as pricing goes you could put one on ebay with a reserve of 50 and a buy it now of 200, and see what it goes for... To give you a rough idea of value And you could link to your store/website through your post = more sales But try and do it at least one maybe 2 weeks before haloween, yes they have year round appeal etc. but most pumpkin searches on ebay will be around this time. Hope I helped, like the work. |

| I did some marathon sessions the last two days, as (inevitably) the bit I had left was actually more work than I expected, and I really wanted to make my deadline - I did it with 6 hours to spare, yay me! I'll take and post pics of my finished work tomorrow. Now for the 'practical' end of things... |

Waxxy, Those are really cool... Kind of reminds me of a Mr. Potato head of sorts (with the leaves and stuff added to them). Ya know what might be cool, is one with a skull protruding out... Regardless, kudos my friend, great job. |

LOL! Seeing others' interpretations of my work is almost twice as fun as the work itself! I guess maybe the assembly stage is rather like Potato-heading... Funny you'd suggest a skull - while my inclination is not to do "spooky" stuff, I did have the image of a skull model come into my mind on Saturday or thereabouts... maybe you IMed that into me |
