Hey everybody, Okay I have a news to share So...I need inputs! Am quite eager to be there. Any of you from Melbourne? Or been there? How do you like the place? Since I hail form an Eastern country, am not sure what will fall in what place. Lol. I am soo excited and happy to explore a new country, and at the same time I am starting to research on the country. I know its beautiful to say the least. |

| I've been to Sydney and the Gold Coast to visit family, and the only problem I had were the flies/gnats? in the park swarming all over my face. After that experience, I stayed closer to the beaches! The people are there are wonderfully nice though. I'd like to return again in the future. Best of luck on your new journey. |

My brother lives in Melbourne, I'm moving out there next Summer to stay and travel for at least a year. I was in Melbourne for a holiday (visiting my bro) back in February/March. I LOVED it (hence my desire to go back and stay). Such a relaxed atmosphere, super friendly people. The City is amazing. Bigger than I thought it was going to be and beautiful at night when it gets dark and the buildings are lit up. Wonderful beaches, hot weather.... I think you get the message

Hi Brown Eyes. I'm a Melbournian! What would you like to know? I've lived here all my life & love it. Victoria is so diverse. It ranges from desert to snowfields in the winter. No matter what you like, you will find it. I live in the outer south east and just love it. The bayside suburbs are also great but very busy and quite expensive real estate wise. Depends what you are after. I'd only be too happy to answer any questions you may have. I know Melbourne like the back of my hand. Cheers Brett. |

Hi Brown eyes. There are plenty of places to shop. Victoria now has a number of great factory outlets with all the brand names. They are very reasonable. There is also Chadstone which is a big shopping mall. There are many other malls but that is the biggest. If malls aren't your thing there is always the Victoria Market which is always good fun and great value. For up market/out there fashion there is Prahran, South Yarra and Toorak. There is also great shopping around the factory outlets in Richmond. Regarding the clothing culture that is pretty diverse. It ranges from shorts tshirts and thongs (flip flops) to the latest fashions. Aussies are pretty laid back though. Melbourne is renowned for having 4 seasons in one day. Mind you, we don't get much rain these days. I'm sure you will fit in just nicely. The culture here is pretty diverse with people from every part of the globe. Have you decided which part of Melbourne you will be moving to yet? Anyway.... I wish you all the best with your move. If I can help you in anyway don't hesitate to contact me. Brett. P.S. We have some great restaurants if you like dining out. Last edited by brettk; 09-22-2009 at 11:39 PM. |

Glad that the culture is diverse, since I hail from a similar environment. Its like I dont know the names of exact places in Melbourne, but I'd surely enlighten myself with those soon. My fiance is mainly the one doing the looking out for places/houses. Gotta ask him. Ooh ofcourse, I am not a cook (yet) so I'd surely like exploring exotic places aswell as regular restaurants Great info Brett, thank you so much, will get back with the place where I'd be moving soon. I live in Sydney but visited Melbourne for the first time a couple of years back, loved it. Only went for the weekend but would love to go back to do some proper exploration. The free tram is a great way to get around the city.
