The latest really inspirational movie for me was The Fountain.
The Matrix Trilogy, 21, Hero, Magnolia, Unbreakable, Instinct and Amelie Poulain have special places in my heart, too.

Donnie Darko was an absolutely incredible film.

Took me a lot of conversations with my friends to understand it fully - didn't really inspire me however

Now Jacob's Ladder on the other hand

I'm a real sucker for the bio-pic about film producer Robert Evans entitled "The Kid Stays in the Picture"...

I've seen many good movies and I usually try to learn a valuable lesson in life from every movie I see.

Here are some of my favorite movies: Big Fish, The Shawshank Redemption, Moulin Rouge, Titanic, and A Walk to Remember.

the adventure films and swashbucklers from the 1930s - Errol Flynn, Cary Grant.

Ultimately i think what a 'good' film does is make the life you left outside before you went in a little too small for you when you leave the theatre.

also:
the english patient
lawrence of arabia
gunga din
robin hood (1940!)

I'm a sucker for sci-fi movies, but only if they really get me thinking, such as the Matrix Trilogy and Back to the Future trilogy.
But I can't forget my favorite movie, The Blues Brothers. It is probably the reason I have strong love of music now.

I subscribe to the Spiritual Cinema Circle, <http://www.spiritualcinemacircle.com>.

It is a bit expensive (I think it's about $25 or $30 per month for four or five films -- some are shorts -- on one CD) , but worth it.

Hmmmm. I'd have to say Prefontaine: the movie about Steve Prefontaine, one of the world's greatest runners.

He is an incredible inspiration. Since I am a runner I know how running often paralells the journey of life.

"MADNESS? THIS IS SPARTA!"

300. The manliest movie ever.

Anybody else feel particularly violent after watching it though? Or a burning desire to die for glory?

Recently I would have to say the new Rocky movie...

Quote from the movie to his son... "Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place and it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't how hard you hit; it's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done. Now, if you know what you're worth, then go out and get what you're worth. But you gotta be willing to take the hit, and not pointing fingers saying you ain't where you are because of him, or her, or anybody. Cowards do that and that ain't you. You're better than that!"

A quick few off the top of the head... Pirates of Silicon Valley, The Secret, I Heart Huckabees.

I also love watching Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy and hear people complain how stupid it is without getting it one bit.

I saw Peaceful Warrior yesterday. I was definitely inspired by it. Got me thinking about taking up running again. It also inspired me to get out for a walk and some meditation at a lake nearby my house. "There are no ordinary moments," is the line from the film that came to mind as I watched the birds dart and soar above the treetops. It was beautiful and exactly what my entire being needed to experience this afternoon. Today at the lake, I was fully present to the experience of being there. I could have been elsewhere working or shopping. But, I realize that when this life is nearly over, I'll never regret this afternoon at the lake. If anything, I'll wish for more times like that, not fewer!

For me, the ultimate inspiration movie is "The Secret". What an amazing eye opener. Oprah, Larry King, Ellen Degeneres and other media have talked about it.

"The Family Man" with Nicholas Cage and Tea Leoni was also inspirational.

For me was The Butterfly Effect (2004), this film really messed with my subconscious mind, and Fight Club (2001) that made me think a lot about my life's purpose.

An old film (1987) called “Wall Street” with Michael Douglas in the role of Gordon Gekko is a most inspirational film that I have watched over and over again…

While the producers of the movie Wall Street clearly intended to portray Gordon Gekko (Michael Douglas) as a villain, ironically enough, thanks to this movie, he became a source of inspiration for countless…

He (Gordon Gekko) is the quintessential alpha who simply has to win in any endeavor he undertakes… granted, he is not a paramount of virtue or morals… but, he is the epitome of drive and determination…

The high point of the film is when he gives the following speech in front of the stock holders of the Teldar Paper Corp.

Quote:
“The point is, ladies and gentleman, that greed, for lack of a better word, is good. Greed is right, greed works. Greed clarifies, cuts through, and captures the essence of the evolutionary spirit. Greed, in all of its forms; greed for life, for money, for love, knowledge has marked the upward surge of mankind. And greed, you mark my words, will not only save Teldar Paper, but that other malfunctioning corporation called the USA. Thank you very much.”
A must see film for all of you movers and shakers who aspire to become more…

You can read about it here

Loved the Notebook as a movie. Read the book before too (liked the book better still even though movie is great heh. He's a great writer. Read his semi-autobiography called "Three weeks with my brother", you'll love it)
