I like to paint on big surfaces because they help fuel big ideas and uninhibited self-expression. To me the freedom to freely express myself is much more important than the preservation of past expression, so I paint on kraft paper rather than canvas and use cheap acrylics vs expensive oils. I want to create a space on my basement wall big enough to house 8' x 6' (two 4' by 6' columns of rolled kraft paper); I just need to create a nice flat surface to paint on that prevents me from getting paint on the concrete wall and concrete wall patterns on my paintings. My current plan is to line the wall with a single layer of cardboard held down (and together) by duct tape and then use masking tape to adhere the kraft paper to that. Anyone have any feedback on how that might work or a better idea for how I might get this done? I'm also thinking about using carpet samples to carpet the room for super cheap so I don't get paint on the floors and can just tear it up when I move or repurpose that part of the basement. The only other thing I can think of is that the sub-pump will be located just a few feet away from where I'm planning to set up my painting wall. Not sure if this will impact anything. Thanks for any feedback/responses |
