More Waxy dark humor: A few years ago I got a scare from what turned out to be an electrolyte deficiency. Later on, I made light of my somewhat-unsettling increased understanding of heart function and nutrition by mini-spoofing this tune Quote:

2) Do you really want to toss away all that good potassium? Oranges/orange juice is good too... I was reading a nostalgic article about food today, and at one point the author (jokingly?) claimed that nearly all Hungarian recipes start out by telling you to melt half a pound of butter in a pan!!! | |

Yes he is the red type Hungarian!!!! I made some paprikash there in the US for my HHH fellow, but the onions were just like water, no taste or "strength" |

| According to this site, one tablespoon of paprika contains 158 mg of potassium, 5% of the daily value!!! WOW!!! I once read about a Peruvian shaman who visited the US. He tried some of our potatoes, and derisively called them "water potatoes" There's some reason to believe I have Mongol ancestry, so maybe we're related!!! Orange juice is also solid at 14% per cup. A whole banana gives 23%, according to this site, but I've read lower numbers elsewhere. [Edit: here's the list I saw years ago; it gives only 11% DV for a banana. Maybe it depends on size and variety?) I feel another split coming - see you in the health-and-fitness forum! How does one say "We will conquer you Magyars with our mighty compound bows of birch and horn!" in Hungarian? Last edited by Wax Frog; 05-12-2009 at 07:10 AM. | |
