More Waxy dark humor:

A few years ago I got a scare from what turned out to be an electrolyte deficiency. Later on, I made light of my somewhat-unsettling increased understanding of heart function and nutrition by mini-spoofing this tune

Quote:
Love ain't like potassium
You get too much, your heart stops and you die
Not enough, your heart stops, you die
It's so nuts, you'll cry
Oh, and bananas? Piffle! If you want a good dose, go with blackstrap molasses and skin-on potatoes instead...

1) Why a hyperbaric chamber?
2) Do you really want to toss away all that good potassium?

Oranges/orange juice is good too...

I was reading a nostalgic article about food today, and at one point the author (jokingly?) claimed that nearly all Hungarian recipes start out by telling you to melt half a pound of butter in a pan!!!

Yes he is the red type Hungarian!!!! You have the Huns - fair (Atila the Hun), Avars - red and Tatars - dark. I come from the Genghis Khan part of the family.

I made some paprikash there in the US for my HHH fellow, but the onions were just like water, no taste or "strength" although they couldn't get enough I was pretty disappointed in your agriculture!

According to this site, one tablespoon of paprika contains 158 mg of potassium, 5% of the daily value!!! WOW!!!

I once read about a Peruvian shaman who visited the US. He tried some of our potatoes, and derisively called them "water potatoes" Mom does go on at times about how much better the produce tasted in Europe...

There's some reason to believe I have Mongol ancestry, so maybe we're related!!! Whatever the truth of the matter, I have no aversion to Avars

This was a little tease! It would be pretty hard to swallow 20 tablespoons of "paprika poison"

My parents lived in Australia for 25 years and would first smell the fruits and vegetables when they came to visit, then they would savor the taste for days! Specially the breads! They just couldn't get enough! My mother always said that bred "down under" there was made from paper! What can you do!! Good old lady Europe! For some thing she is still good... but for other OMG

Yes, this is why we want molasses (20% DV per tablespoon) or skin-on potato (1 large - 46%). They were my post-deficiency heroes

Orange juice is also solid at 14% per cup. A whole banana gives 23%, according to this site, but I've read lower numbers elsewhere.

[Edit: here's the list I saw years ago; it gives only 11% DV for a banana. Maybe it depends on size and variety?)

I feel another split coming - see you in the health-and-fitness forum!

Uhhuh! [nods vigorously]

How does one say "We will conquer you Magyars with our mighty compound bows of birch and horn!" in Hungarian?

What sort of sound would come out of Bozo when you opened him?

Little Miss Marinik
Sat on a muffet tuffet
Because there are no furnishings
That rhyme with Marinik

Do they have tuffets in Sremska Mitrovica? Or Kuršumlijska Banja, for that matter?
