I am considering returning to my nomadic ways, where I just up and go some place new, and live for a few months to a year. I was hoping for some reviews of places in the USA that you all find fascinating, and fun, that if you were to just up and move to for a few months, where you would go, and why. Discuss. |

try a city in Canada also, if it was me I would go live in any big city in the U.S, I would really soak in the lifestyle, im fasinated by lifestyles of different cities and how some people spend their whole life in just one city and some even a town. Go Canada, my nomad brother. |

Hi, It kinda depends on where you have already been and what you are looking for. There are so many great places in this country and they have a distinct vibe about them. It's great that even though it's one big coutnry there are so many sub cultures with in. A short list of cool places I have lived or visited for an extended stay: New York City, Brooklyn- NY, Ashville- NC, Greenville- South Carolina, Miami, Colorado-Durango, Boulder, Arizona- Phoenix, Scottsdale, New Mexico- Taos, Santa Fe, California- LA, San Diego, San Francisco. Some of these places have beautiful nature, great hiking, weather etc... Others are just fun cities to party and meet interesting people. If you have a question about a specific place, let me know. If I can answer you I will. Jax PS. check out this page of inspiring quotes about travel. Inspirational Quotes about Travel |

Chattanooga, TN is an interesting place. It seems to have changed very little since the 1960's, and is a popular tourist attraction due to the mountains nearby. Rural Oklahoma represents a simple existance, with a working man's paradise. Oil fields abound, and life can be quite simple out there. Alaska remains relatively untamed by mankind, and has the most liberal drug laws in the country. Tijuana Mexico, for being the most California-ish part of Mexico. |

It really depends on what you're looking for. The US is a *huge* place. Are you a city person? Rural? Do you have any special interests, hobbies, or goals? Do you want to study somewhere? Into art? Into the music scene? Into the great outdoors? Do you have the budget for somewhere with a really high cost of living? For example, a basic apartment can cost 4x as much or more, depending on where it is. |

If you go to New Orleans be sure to drop by Cafe du Monde for their hot chocolate. It's magical. I've wondered around New Orleans, Charleston, Charlotte, Asheville, Raleigh, San Francisco (not southern, but worth mentioning again), and DC, and all would be worth exploring again, particularly as a pedestrian, though I'm also looking forward to possibilities such as hanging around Yellowstone, hiking the Appalachian Trail, or walking/biking across the US rather than picking any one city/location to stay in.
