My sister found it while looking up Astral Projection. She told me it had a lot of other stuff on it, too. This was the Summer before college, and I was on the verge of dropping out of church. For the next two years, I was an altar boy in the Church of Pavlina.

Like many of us, I typed something. In my case it was "how to find a purpose in life". I was so happy I found this site. I have recommended it to my sister and friends, but I think they are laaaazy about writing (and thinking) in English. Or maybe they are already here and I don/t know...!

My wife sent me an email that she had gotten from a friend with a link to the stop drinking coffee article. That was a little over two years ago.

I was reading an article in the Escapist, a web magazine about video games. The article was talking about the unsung heroes of game development, and one of the people they talked about was Steve. The things they said were so interesting I just had to check out his site, and I was hooked from the first article.

After all this time, I can't remember exactly. I found this site in either 2005 or 2006, probably through a Google search on some topic or other, quite likely something to do with paranormal topics - not sure, though. I've always been extremely impressed with the high quality of the writing, and the fascinating subject matter, and also Steve's ability to make even topics that I thought I would find boring, interesting. For some reason, though, I didn't start reading this site regularly until 2007. Best wishes, Apollia

I used to read a personal finance blog written by a woman who had no job, was living off her babydaddy (while viciously resenting him), who had never completed anything she'd set out to do in her life, and was full of a million excuses why she couldn't change her dependent, perpetually-indebted situation. Others were holding her back, the System was set up against her, she was obese, she was poor, she had no self-control or self-discipline...on and on. I read it for the trainwreck factor, to be honest. How someone could be that intelligent (and she obviously was) and yet such a persistent failure in just about every area of her adult life was fascinating. At any rate, her blogroll did turn me on to a couple of good personal finance blogs I hadn't seen before, and one day I saw Steve's blog listed on it. And since there's no way I could not read something called "Personal Development for Smart People," I checked it out. I liked so much of what I read--I think I spent at least two hours reading back through his archives--but I wondered the entire time, "Why does she have this guy's blog listed? She's like the anti-Pavlina. Not only that, he's everything she hates." My best guess is that she'd read his entries on building a successful, income-earning blog, and hadn't yet read the self-improvement and LoA stuff. I imagine she finally did get around to reading that stuff, because a week later the link was gone from her blogroll. I don't know what she's doing now; I hope she's doing better and getting her life on track. But once in a while I pause and send her silent thanks for pointing me here.

I was reading Jacqueline Passey's blog regularly. It was kind of a personal blog, but it was highly interesting and highly unusual and she was able to make a living off her links to gambling sites for a while. However, the U.S. government outlawed the usage of credit cards for gambling sites, and thus she lost her income from blogging. So sometime in the fall of 2006, she was lamenting about having to get a job, and happened to link to Steve's article "10 reasons never to get a job". I followed the link and knew, just knew that this was a site I'd want to go back to often. So, I started checking out his site once in a while by typing it in the address bar. However, for the first few months, I didn't know how to spell "Pavlina", and I didn't bookmark anything. Thus for those first few months, to get to Steve's site I'd always have to do a google search for some "Steve Povlana" or "Steve Pilvana" or some variation of that name Little did I know at the time how much reading that simple complaint & link from Jacqueline Passey's blog would end up changing my life so much. |

I had made this habit of using Google's wonderfull "Alerts" feature. I had typed in some key-word which I don't remember now. As a result of this I got some links which took me to stevepavlina.com This was some time when Steve was doing his Raw diet trial. I got hooked on to it, read some previous articles & made a habit of reading the daily blogs and now I have finished reading his book & already taking action in some of the areas in my life. As i write this I feel so happy & lucky to have accidently stumbled on this website.
