Default Do you read before you write?

Do you read the other replies to a post before you write your own reply?

If someone has already covered what you were going to write, do you go ahead and write the same exact thing anyway?

Well, I would answer your question, but I'm waiting for someone else to reply first.

I try to. However, if there are three pages worth of replies, including a 'manifesto' or three, there have been occasions when I just quit reading the responses and put my two cents worth in. It does take time to go through an entire thread from begining to end and relate all replies to the original post and each other. Sometimes the tangential thread drifts (such as this one) are quite interesting. I usually ignore the really long threads with 7-8 pages of replies, just because they are usually not worth the effort to follow.

Default I write and then read....

I don't care to have my input to be influenced by others...
Some of the posts are verbose, yes. I skim read and to pull out the important info. A short answer would be helpful; with additional context to follow...

Write on!
