| Hey everyone, I am just thinking about what to do for my birthday this year. I am thinking about taking a small getaway vacation for an extended weekend, but don't want to spend a lot of money. Does anyone have any good ideas for a cheap weekend getaway in US midwest?? Thanks! |

| Though this isn't quite midwest, I often enjoy heading out to Vegas - and not gambling. The airfare, hotel rooms and buffets are all cheap because they figure they will (on average) make it up on the gamblers. Don't gamble and you'll be ok =). If you're looking to drive out somewhere midwest, sorry, I'm no help there =)

| What do you like to do? If you like to camp and be outdoors there are the Warren Sand Dunes in southern Michigan (almost in Indiana) right along the lake which are beeeautiful! Southern Illinois (carbondale area) has some beautiful caves, swamps, forests, etc. I forget the name of the big park there, but it is easy to find. |

| depending where you live there are often groups that you can go with that are fun and cheaper since you go with a group. There are two that i really enjoy Cincinnati Ski Club - this is mostly focused in the midwest, but they travel alot too. For example, in a couple weeks we are going white water rafting in west Virgina.. that is 296 bucks. hocking hills trip was 160 bucks for 3 days including food. they are ski trips and all sorts of other stuff. The other one i like is a little more expensive. The Outdoor Adventure Club- Bay Area, Sacramento, and beyond they have alot of adventurous trips but they tend me be longer (anywhere from a day trip to 4 to 6 weeks). Every trip they do i droll over and could make a full time life out of just doing their adventures. To get really cheap weekends, you may want to look into clubs near you for group discounts and new friends! |
