Default If you could only listen to one song... for ETERNITY...

... what song would you choose? Something pop, something classical?

I think I would choose one of the slower movements of a Mozart symphony or piano concerto... though I can't decide which one, they're all so pretty! (Okay, okay, those pieces technically aren't songs, but I'm the one asking the question. ) Or "Turn It Into Love" by Kylie Minogue, since I *adore* that song!

What about you guys? What would you choose?

I have way too much to choose from
Right now I'd choose an Ayreon song though. It has several singers and mixed styles, and that's one of the lesser reasons to choose this song.

Ayreon - Day Twelve: Trauma

I guess I'd pick the full-quality stereo version of "Faded Memories" from Final Fantasy XI:

YouTube - Final Fantasy XI 「Faded Memories - Promyvion」

I find it very relaxing, even if it's repeated five zillion times in a row.

Lots of songs start to annoy me if I leave them repeating in the background, but with that one, I tend to just forget it's even there. I'd sure miss all the other good music in existence, though.

Best wishes,
Apollia

glintz outputmessage / Hype Machine MP3 Blog Search: Tracks

Hit the play button.
It's the one song that I can listen and feel more concentrated and work better.

Indeed, listening to one song for eternity, ha, you would curse yourself for your choice!

I think it would have to be something fairly neutral and repetitive. Something soothing. Ambient like William Basinski-El Camino Real perhaps.

4′33″ - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I could not listen to one thing for eternity, that would drive me crazy. So I chose a piece of music that is all silence. lol.

Well, I would write something very long and with different parts, for that. (So not much of a song but a huge song, kind of symphony). The problem is that I don't have eternity to write it.

Well... anyway I think that I wouldn't listen much and I would remember other songs or compose songs in my head... well... in my conscience. You don't have to listen to have music in your head.

You would pick 4'33''?! That's a creative choice! I don't think I could listen to that for eternity, it would drive me insane.

(You know, I actually played that piece at a piano recital once! It made everybody in the room totally uncomfortable - nobody had any idea what was going on. )

These songs you people have picked are awesome, a lot of them I've never heard before! Well, 'cept the John Cage piece, and Beer Barrel Polka.

well, John Lennon once published kind of a rarity "One Minute Silence"

as I'm unlucky with girls I thought of "recording" a silence song for 22 seconds (the number that appears on many things in my life)... called "Me and Women" or so...

If I could only listen to it when I want to, I'd have to choose Jim Offerman's "This Is Me".

It's such an inspiring song that I listen to it often. Always puts me in the mood to take action. :P

You can get it from his website here Music | Jim Offerman

My partner chose this one

YouTube - Alice

And I have to admit that this piece of composing is strong. It stays in your head for hours after you heard it the first time without really giving irritation.
But I am not sure if I would want to listen to it for eternity.

While i'm totally into this new song, I kissed a girl...

I'd have to say Seperate Ways (Worlds Apart) by Journey.

I'm so honored! Thanks!

Personally, I'm with Wolfgang on going with 4'33... I could just sing whatever I want through it and enjoy some much needed silence occasionally

I don't know about mine, but if I were able to be your "eternity DJ", the song for all of you would definitely be Rihanna's "Umbrella". Muhahahahahaaa! Welcome to hell! Ella-ella-ella-ella!!!! OMG, I'm in a wicked mood

If I had to listen to it for eternity (or any timespan that is longer as one day ) I'd definately go for just silence. Then I could listen to the music in my head.

Interesting you "played" that 4'33". I hope I got it right - that is the one that is all rests in the music right?

Well, what would drive me insane is to have the same song playing over and over for eternity. I think that would be torture to not be able to switch the song out every once and a while. How often can one listen to the same song over and over even without eternity, with just an hour? Take the song you guys have mentioned and put it on repeat for an hour and see what I mean.

Of coarse, I'm taking a philosophical approach to your post. I mean, you were probably just trying to generate what kinds of music/songs people really like. I jump around too much to pin it down to choosing one. I go through period of classical music and then hard alternative, and then rag time piano or jazz. I need to switch the music out based on what I fee like - and sometimes I choose nothing.

So if it was one song for eternity it would have to be something that changes and evolves along with eternity. Maybe it would have to be something like listening to nature's song where birds come and go and storms come and goes and water/oceans change their sounds.
