| I'd rather be a guy. Way more implicit privileges. But then I'd have to give up some newfound rather enjoyable mechanisms specific to my female body. On the other hand, if I'd been a guy they would likely not have been made so violently un-enjoyable in the first place. But if I'd been a guy, I'd never really know how bad women have it, and in embracing the implicit privileges I'd be in an awkward position to fight for equal rights. But then the fact that I just said "I'd rather be a guy" already puts me in an awkward position fighting for equal rights. If I'd been born a guy but had my same exposures, I really think I would have grown into a misogynist and the previous worries would be moot so I'd rather it not have started out that way. If I became a guy just now, then maybe the girl I have a crush on would finally consider me-- or maybe it would still be weird because she knows me as a girl, it would certainly be odd for me who's already used to behaving like a girl... so I'd be flamboyantly gay in every way except orientation. And while I'd get more flack for being transgendered than being either male or female, at least I wouldn't be misogynist or misandrist. I'd have enough experience to be thoroughly misanthropist, except I already do. But I'm not, I hope. Except maybe implicitly (I don't hope -- just considering...) Scratch all that, I'd rather be gender-neutral and stripped of everything but my consciousness. But what if that's the only thing anyone needs to have problems...? |

| I'd much rather be a dude than a dudette because it seems that dudettes have so much to put up with going through puberty and in adulthood. From videos I've watched in science class, it seems that the first period is the most uncomfortable, and I wouldn't want to have one at all. Giving birth looks like hell!!! And friends of mine that are dudettes expressed to me that the growth process of breasts are extremely painful and embarrasing if they aren't as large as LA's view of nice boobs. Sounds similar to the size of men's penises. So I'd much rather be a dude... which I am.

43. I have the privilege of being unaware of my male privilege. I feel that as a woman, I could behave or more like feel any way I want - women are incalculable afterall. But by the same token, the same privilege goes for women too. Funnily this link gave me a 404: http://colours.mahost.org/org/femaleprivilege.html What did I do wrong? I always feel that if I have a relationship with a woman, I would have to be the guardian, the prince who comes and saves her and protects her, the one who's responsible, the one who has to be awake and alert all the time, never get to relax, always show that I am not violent because as a man, I am obviously a potential rapist, mass murderer and allround criminal. This all gender thing with all the stereotypes gives me way too many issues, I'd much, much rather have a universe with only one gender, then everything would be equal for once. PS: just yesterday found this little article Last edited by Erki : 06-23-2007 at 07:43 AM. |

| Equality is overrated.
