Default Re: Moving / Beautiful Songs

Dan --

Oddly, the only ones I'm familiar with in this list are "Nothing Compares," and "Total Eclipse of the Heart."

Let me throw an obvious one out:

"You Are Loved (Don't Give Up)" -- Josh Groban. Beyond this guy's amazing voice, I know Peter Gabriel had a hand in the arrangement of the song, and he's an all time favorite performer of mine.

One more: a song that just plain captured me lately was The Blue Man Group's version of Donna Summer's "I Feel Love," with Venus Hum's Annette Strean singing lead. The raw intensity of the music and lighting effects contrasted by Annette's bouncy, almost silly 1950's naive innocence and the Blue Men's performance art antics blows me away.

I suppose neither one of these may qualify as hauntingly beautiful, but I like them both quite a bit.

I guess when I think of "hauntingly beautiful" I tend to think of material like The Beatles' "Eleanor Rigby," and "Across the Universe," or The Police's "Invisible Sun."

Default I like this thread!

My mind is usually occupied with thoughts of love towards my purpose or my loved ones, so I always gravitate towards love songs.

Here's my list:

1. Do Right Woman, Do Right Man - Aretha Frankin
2. Ain't Nothing Like the Real Thing - Aretha Franklin
3. I'll Be There For You - Bon Jovi
4. Keep the Faith - Bon Jovi
5. Always - Bon Jovi
6. Soul Inspiration - Anita Baker
7. And Then You Kissed Me - The Cardigans
8. Everyone Everywhere - New Order
9. The Best - Tina Turner
10. Cherry Blossom Girl - Air

Song could be interpreted as a little depressing but it is a very moving song and it actually makes me feel happy.
