Lots of places on Route 1 along the Pacific coast are pretty amazing.

I have heard good things about Big Sur in particular though. What did your friends say about it?

They loved the remoteness of it and the wildness of the geography. It apparently can get pretty cool and it was pretty rainy for most of their stay, but they carried on and had an amazing time, hiking and kayaking, etc. Word is that the yurts are quite cozy and comfortable.
