| I've finally finished the current phase of my life - college. I have two final exams tomorrow and then I'm through. On to the next thing, whatever that is. I'm not really sure what I want to do (I know I want to do computer programming work, but nothing much more specific than that) or where I want to go. I don't really have anything tying me down to any specific location, I feel free to go anywhere in the world to try and settle in -- or not, maybe just stay for a short period of time and move on... My degree is in Computer Science, so as long as I can have good quality internet access, and maybe chances at finding programming work, I'm set. What are your favorite locations in the world? Where would you go and why? |

| I feel that moving to any certain place because of the landscape or geographical items of interest is a mistake. Before too long that feature looses its interest. Move somewhere because of the people, I think Canada or here in Australia. |

| Except for the ocean. I don't think I'd be able to live somewhere where I couldn't see the ocean regularly.

| Haha, I have grown up in he middle of Sweden and have only seen ocean on vacations. I don't think I'm much of an ocean person. I'm more of a mountain person. There are no mountains where I grew up either but I've been on vacations at mountains and like skiing. I can also see much more variety potential in mountains than water.

| I can hardly call the English Channel an ocean, but having always lived very near the sea (and had a swim today despite it still being very cold!), I could never live anywhere else. David

| I've always wanted to live in Italy. Tuscany in particular. It's so open and beautiful there. But you should go whereever your heart leads you. Computers are everywhere. I'd say close your eyes and take a chance.

I'm doing Canada this summer, then it's off maybe to Costa Rica, then some of Europe, maybe a couple Asian countries, and then New Zealand! We don't know what we want yet, so we're just gonna go find it! |

| If you are a programmer then Bay area is the spot. But generally i don't see any spot on the world as special, anywhere you go if you have enough money is good. Personally i don't plan on staying on one spot, i will prob share the living between Europe, Australia, Asia and South/Central America. Teleworking today makes the miracles!

Thailand sounds fun, as does the Philippines. I was actually thinking about pitching Thailand to you early this morning.. What about Fuji? To the orginal Poster, Eric If i can go anywhere, i would go everywhere. I dont think i would be happy just staying in one place for a long period of time. I could see myself in a couple places for maybe a whole year becuase there is so much to explore but ultimately, i like to be pretty transient at least at this stage of my life. I want to go to Peru and all over south america and Africa to explore, see ruins, white water raft, hike and explore. I want to see eastern Europe and spend some time learning more about eastern cultures. I want to spend sometime in a bunch of small countryside villas all over western Europe. That may not be much help, but i found for me, i need to be on the move. Why limit your self to one place when you can go anywhere? About a year ago, i was struggling with the same questions you are. I can go anywhere, so do i want to go to? I did alot of research and found alot of places that i wanted to go, but none that i knew i wanted to stay. I was actually getting very frustrated with this. I kept working at it, and into my Life strode Dave, and everything just fell into place. I got a travel partner who wants to do alot of the same things i want to. And he is soooo not boring. (tho if anyone tells Dave i said that, i will deny it Good luck on trying to figure it out. Adrienne |
