I'm a Capricorn and NOTHING like one, from the couple descriptions I've just Googled--I don't even have the good Capricorn traits. However, one website indicated that one's sun sign indicates more the direction in which one should move in order to fulfill one's life purpose than it indicates what one is already like. So, in that case, I could use a couple Capricorn traits in greater abundance, such as the organization and the tendency toward consistent application in pursuit of goals.

I am fairly near the cusp, though, and the Saggitarius description is a lot closer to my personality. What is the deal with the cusp? Can anyone tell me? I can't imagine that astrology advocates equal distribution of sign traits to everyone born from the first to the last date of that sign, especially since not all sources agree on the exact dates. Are cuspers supposed to be "hybrids"?

Well, my Sun sign is Pisces, but IMO Western astrology is too generic and not as accurate as Vedic astrology, which uses the moon to determine your sign as well as taking into account your ascendant sign, which gives an even more accurate picture of your individual incarnation. I highly recommend those who believe in astrology get a jyotish reading (you will need to know your exact birth time as well as place of birth) done by a good Vedic astrologer. You may be blown away by the predictions as well as past that is uncovered

I'm a gem of a Gemini, however I certainly identify with the dark side:
Nervous and tense
Superficial and inconsistent
Cunning and inquisitive

Although cunning and inquisitive aren't that bad are they?

I feel bad for being inconsistent as well, how can I improve?

I'm a Scorpio - worse yet, a double Scorpio (that is, Scorpio is both my Sun sign and my Rising sign). And yes, I'm afraid I'm a typical Scorpio - the good and the bad, as Erin put it. My sister is really into this stuff and recommends Astrology and Horoscope Homepage - Astrodienst. She tells me my problems are not because of being a Scorpio, but because of the place Saturn holds in my chart. Fortunately, there are ways around pesky Saturn and the problems he brings along.

On most of these readings I find them to be way too vuage, and with the correct wording, can be used to describe anyone.

I don't know, maybe at the core there's some meaning, but today it's just fluff entertainment.

Even my wife (who is a complete skeptic) was impressed with the accuracy of those readings. Of course, she was nit-picking at the few things that were wrong, but overall, it was quite accurate.

What does that "Sun in Cancer", "Mercury in Aries", etc mean? I'm not much into Astro things so can anyone help me out?

There are certain places where various planets were at the time and place you were born. The sign they are in is important (e.g., Sun in Cancer), as well as the "house" they are in (the astrological chart is divided into 12 houses, each of which has a meaning) and how the different planets relate to each other (the chart is circular - so you look for 30, 60, 90 and 180 degree angles between planets). Some planets are more important than others (sun and moon and rising sign are most important) for your chart. The slow moving planets (Pluto, Uranus) are least important because everyone born in your decade will have those planets in the same place. I can never remember what they all mean - there are a lot of details when you dig into it.

(As an example, having my Sun in Scorpio, the First House, and "conjunct" some other planets, "trine" another, and "opposite" yet another all means something in terms of things which should come easy to me, things which should be challenges for me, and personality traits. The daily horoscopes that you see somewhere compare your birth chart with what's happening today. I really have no idea how those work.)

I was born on the cusp of Aquarius, and Pisces. I didn't know this for a long while, and fit a lot into Pices, but some things didn't fit well, at all. Then I learned about the cusp thing, and examined that a bit more, and all the pieces fit nicely.
