Do you know Second Life? Any experiences?

It's a blast - very engrossing...which is a good and bad thing

It's not a "game" in the traditional sense - the main attractions are exploring, socializing, and, if this is your taste, building/programming.

(though there are traditional games within Second Life)

It's a ton of fun, but I felt like after all I wasn't making any headway in my *real* life.

I got a similar thing with Morrowind. You quickly become addicted to exploring random tombs and stealing an entire house collection of cups and plates and before long you've forgotten you have any real friends lol.

If there ever was a game that successfully created an alternative reality that people can get lost in - this is the one!

Yes. I did. It was a comlpete escapist experience. The place has great potential but unfortunately the only thing people are concerned about on there are sex and gambling.

So in the span of a few days: I got a SL girlfriend, worked as a escort recruiter for a club on commission, got conned by my employer, gambled away the money i made, broke up with the girl and left SL forever to stop the addiction.

fun times...

Nice feedback, thanks
I think it could be interesting joining for a social experiment. For more than a decade I´ve been researching/ using RPG as a personal development tool and maybe Second Life has some potencial too.

Do you like Role Playing Games?

Second Life doesn't really qualify as an RPG in the usual sense.

I'd recommend taking a look at Terra Nova and Raph’s Website and perhaps asking a couple questions.
