Default Steve & Erin: Vegas accomodations recommendation?

Steve and Erin, Danger Man and I will be coming out the weekend of the June Hayes House event, and would like to ask your advice on a cool, not-so-high-price place to stay.

Neither of us are interested in gambling, and we don't mind staying out in the boonies, as long as it won't be a big hassle to get to the venue on time. We don't want to camp. (Danger Man won't be attending the event, but I hope we get to all meet at some point anyway.)

Got any suggestions?

Will you have a rental car with you?

If no car, then I would recommend Luxor or Excalibur as less expensive places to stay but you won't be able to walk to the venue, you'll have to take a taxi which will only take 5-10 minutes and at least he can drop you off right at the door.

Hotels in walking distance of the venue include Treasure Island, Mirage, Caesar's Palace, and of course the Venetian itself. More expensive though.

If you'll have a car, we can recommend some places off the strip that should be less expensive and it will take you approximately 20-30 minutes to get to the show venue each day.

We will be driving from home each day and we can usually get there in 20-30 minutes, but if you add in parking time and walking through the Venetian to get to the Sands Expo you'll want to start out a good hour ahead of time so you're not rushing.

We'll probably drive. We're only going to the hayes thing the one day, so I don't think it will be too difficult to make the drive, if we can find a cool place away from the beaten path.

What is this hayes thing? I couldn't find a hayes event when I googled for it.

It's the I Can Do It conference that Steve will be speaking at on Sunday, June 29. Here is a link to the conference detail page.

Hay House, Inc. | Lectures & Events

You can go for the whole conference (Thursday to Sunday) or you can go to a single day if you want too.

Last year there wre 7,000 attendees. It's held at the Venetian in the Sands Expo area. So the Venetian is the event hotel, but you can stay anywhere.

Angela, I did a quick search around some of the local hotels and the rates that weekend look awfully high! Like $200-$300 per night, for a hotel off the strip. Granted I didn't check them all but... sheesh!

I would go to maps.google.com and do a search like:
hotels near 89109 and start checking to see what the rates will be like.

We'd love to have another meet up. It's hard to say what Steve will be doing before Sunday though. He might be working on his presentation or attending meetings. We're not sure, but as it gets closer we'll know more.

My sweetie is flying home from a conference in Las Vegas as we speak!! He stayed in a really nice hotel on the strip, one of the Hilton hotels. It didn't have any gambling and a really nice room with a king bed was $165 a night. I don't think it qualifies as "cool", but it wasn't as pricey as some of the other places were. His observation was that every place they went to eat was very expensive. (They didn't rent a car so they just walked to places near the hotel.)

okay, we're booked into Harrah's at $110 per night, not too bad, and less than a mile from the Sands Expo.

I look forward to seeing any of y'all who show up! Maybe we can organize a meet-up.

Yeah we'll definitely organize some kind of meet up. We're not sure yet what Steve's obligations will be, time-wise, other than showing up to speak, so we'll have to see as we get closer.

Wonderful! Erin, I am very much looking forward to meeting you. (by the way, let me know if you need anything when you're out here in L.A.)

Lots of love,

Yeah - it's not a bad trip. There are cheapo flights to Vegas pretty regularly. It's the add-ons I have to watch! Although, that income flow I've been manifesting is staying pretty steady...

I'll have to seriously examine my globe-trotting budget. Perhaps I can make it happen. How fun would that be?!

I think that would be so wonderful! I hope the whole gang can make it. Maybe we should just pile a bunch of people into a couple of hotel rooms and make a party of it.

Ummm. Not me. I require a bed. But then, I'm a lot older than you!

I'm all for sharing a room, though. Where'd you find your good rate Angela?

I played with my traveling budget a bit last night. Best I can guess-timate, a weekend in Vegas will run me around $1000 (airfare, hotel, conference, food, transportation to and from airports). At this point I have about 60% of my Italy trip paid for and six more months til I take that trip. So I decided I'll make a decision about Vegas in four or five weeks. See how the income flows until then.

*sigh* Life would be so much easier if I wasn't morally opposed to racking up credit card debt.

I tried priceline to try to get a five-star hotel for $125 or less, but no luck. I looked on priceline and hotels.com to find a low price for a nice property -- at first we were considering the $69 deals at Circus Circus or a shady motel, but we realized we want to have a little bit of luxury and I want to be able to walk to the I Can Do It thing, so Harrah's looked like it fit the bill at an average of $110 per night. Danger Man just wants to tan his bod. I'm not sure what other interesting things we'll find to do, cuz neither of us is a gambler, but I don't think we'll be doing anything too expensive. Lots of walking, I imagine.

We're driving over. I hope you choose to come, Lola. And the rest of y'all, too.

Make sure you have your tickets to the event before you book the travel (or do it together) because I know some people last year who didn't get their tickets in time.

Thanks -- too, it looks like some individual speakers such as Steve can book up faster than others. That would be a shame to leave it too long and not be able to get that session. I am picturing a standing room only crowd.

I signed up for Timothy Freke, Lucid Living: Turning your world inside out for the afternoon session. Have you guys heard of him before? I hadn't. I'm looking forward to hearing Maryanne Williamson as the keynote speaker that morning, too.

It's hard to say what Steve's crowd will look like. He is a virtual unknown in the Hay House customer base and he's up against some popular speakers. But he's got the home court advantage. A lot of his local friends will be attending who probably would not travel to hear him speak. But if we pack the room I'm sure someone at Hay House will notice.
