Default Any Artists Here?

Anybody here dabble in the arcane skill of pencil, pens, sketching, painting, illustration? Digital or traditional?

If so, how did you get interested in it? What sort of things do you draw? And where do you find inspiration? Have you ever taken 'formal' lessons, or is everything self-taught? Do you make money from it?

traditional.
but I try to get some to my yahoo-blog,
http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-AiUFy2k9erR8.FNAN465Y0wJ
But I'm currently waiting for good weather in order to get my things in a digital format. (digital camera).
The two on the site are of little format, so I could scan them.
But I do not only do cats.

seeing the world, I realized that in me, I had views that "were not real", and I liked the idea to get these view into the material world.

hm, as you see, cats, but other things, too. Landscapes in my view.

No money out of it, yet. hm, still, I use the skill to make educational material, but that's another story. Formal lessons: informal ones, yes. That is, in courses. That's all.
(ps, the rainbow, of course, is a photo.)

Hi ... Actually I always loved sketching, for as long as I can remember...

just pencil sketches, for a long time I was on this clown kick..where all I would sketch is clowns, lol I think what started it was because wrote a dedication poem to an comedian named Red Skelton... and he use to dress like a hobo and clown

I also like sketching abstracts, and cartoon figures and faces , trying to perfect the eyes

I'm not that good but I really did enjoy it

I am doing digital art, mainly as part of my projects (computer game development and web development) The interest for drawing was always there for me as long as i remember. Actually, thinking back my grandmother probably had a lot todo with it as i always used to draw a lot when i was spending my summers with her in my childhood.

Right now i am very much into pixel art (e.g. Pixel Art at pixeljoint.com - Forum Avatars, Buddy Icons, Sprites ), but i do regular digital art as well (with a tablet).

Inspiration can be found in many things =) Music, Art create by others in any form, people. I find it really differs on what you are drawing, i find music works a lot for me as long as i listen to music that fits the mood of the drawing.

Most of my skills are self taught i guess, i did read books and stuff, but didnt really visit any sort of art school, cept for regular art classes we had back then, but those were useless.

I do make money from it, but mostly as part of my coding projects, it's rarely that i freelance artwork for other people. Mainly because i dont like freelancing =)

I always drew a lot as a kid. Art was my favorite class always.

My first real formal lessons were in high school. Basic illustration techniques. Watercolor paint, colored pencil, and pen/ink. I started painting a lot in watercolor then. Just this year I got into acrylics.

I've made some money off eBaying my art and it being sold from the college galleries. The most I've gotten from a painting was my Brad Pitt as Tyler Durden from Fight Club portrait. I like painting portraits mostly, especially movie characters. I've painted Ed Norton, Helena Bonham Carter, and Brad Pitt multiple times (Fight Club is my favorite movie to paint from), I've done Samuel L Jackson and John Travolta from Pulp Fiction, I've done all the Reservoir Dogs, I've done paintings from Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, I've done The Shining, A Clockwork Orange, and I'm working an Always Sunny piece now.

I always wished I could draw. My son is an incredible artist but doesn't do anything with it at present but design tatoos or drawings for his own entertainment.

Best I can come up with is odd geometric looking doodles when I'm stuck on the phone or bored in a class. I do mosaic tile art, though and am just learning stained glass.

I'm a quilter, though I haven't had time to work on a quilt for a while now. Learning stained glass is on my "TO DO" list, I can't wait to have the time/money to try it!
