| Hey I really enjoy watching stand up comedy, and I also have never been afraid of public speaking, so it seems like a hobby I might enjoy. How do you get started in something like this? Are their classes or organizations or something? Thanks for any input Erock

| I think modeling successful stand-ups is a solid place to start, use their jokes and see if you can pull off the same successful delivery. I'd recommend Steven Lynch, Patton Oswald, Flight of the Concords, Dane Cook.

| Hey thanks for the reply. I'll definitely check those guys out. I was more looking for like organizations for amateur comedians. Maybe I should use google, but I thought there would be people here who could direct me to the best places. Erock

| Sure! In my opinion delivery is crucial in stand-up. Once you can perform someone else's set you can work on your own, then try an open mic night / join organizations. There might be a meet-up in your area as well.. see Meetup: World's largest community of local Meetups, clubs and groups to find out.

| Read Judy Carter's books on stand-up, such as The Comedy Bible. That will get you off to a strong, practical start.
