Default Who Have You Learned to Love on Here?

This idea came from the thread about what we've learned from Steve, but I'd had it in my head for some time.

Is there someone on here you didn't care for at first, but grew on you?

I'll tell you mine: Angela.

I used to roll my eyes at things she'd post. "Ugh, typical 'tough chick' stuff," I'd think. As I grew as a person, I realized Angela and I share a lot of the same qualities and she has some I'd love to have for myself: Terrific wit and dry sense of humor, enormous intellect, genuinely IS tough (but also very loving and gentle), and the sort of coolness I could only hope to implement with a false eye patch.

So come on. Who's grown on you and made you grow as a person? Someone on here made you seen the humor in life, made you wiser? Tell!

ETA: Don't feel bad if you're not mentioned. That just means you're likable from the get go.

*Bump*

I'll ASSUME you all just loved everyone on here from the get go. Okay. I'm apparently the lone person who had a lot of growing to do on here.

It's not that - you've just evolved more quickly than the rest of us!

I'm just now getting where I stop myself thinking "what an idiot" about some posts. (and learning to ponder what my knee-jerk reaction says about/to me.)

I don't think this forum gets as many visitors as the others, so that might be why there aren't more responses.

And I'm not responding because no-one fits the criteria.

...but if it were a list of who I've learned to love, not just because I hated them and then realised they had a lot of good in them, but because an initial impression was shown to be accurate, or a non-impression turned good, well... The list would be long

PS: Funny that you should think of someone else as a 'tough girl', Maevey. That would be one of those shared qualities, yes?

Hahahaha. Oh, I still have those knee jerk reactions. Getting better slowly.

Right on all those accounts. At least I am understood (and my bluffs called).

Munish, I heartily agree with you. I'm not a daily poster here but Angela always seems to have a kind word to offer with sound advice and support.

I don't know too much about her in terms of what she looks like, where she's from or whatever but I would still like to call her a friend.

Angela looks like Lara Croft. I know it. I had a dream recently about this forum, and in this dream I saw her. So you can believe me

I DO look like Lara Croft, especially in my wetsuit! More of a California beach-girl version, though. And a little more, well, let's say mature.

So, I think the consensus is we all love Angela.

Default Happy 1,000th post, Aspiring!

Well, I'm sure there are a few people who are rolling their eyes at the "we all love Angela", Aspiring, but maybe they just don't realize they love me yet! *

I love all of you folks, too, with my whole heart.

It's funny how deeply you can feel about people without actually meeting them in person, isn't it? It makes me feel so connected. Sometimes I read what you are all saying, and it makes my heart grow two sizes to know that although you are in Texas or Moscow or the Netherlands or Germany or India or the U.K. or where ever -- we are all together.

I think being openly emotional is part of being tough. Letting down your guard is the hardest part.

The internet is an amazing thing that way!

I am always impressed with the people willing to open their hearts online. I think in some ways, a consequence free environment is really good for seeing what people are like, although some of the best experiences I've had is meeting online friends. (Warning: If I am in your city and I recognize you, you're screwed, people. I will hug you.)

Yes I know. I meant it seriously.

Never seen the movie, but recently I went to rent a DVD at the video store, and there was a real size Lara Croft figure standing there near the door, and I told her "hey Angela, what are you doing here..."
