Default Have you eaten a durian?

Has anybody here eaten a durian?

I know there are some people from Singapore and Southeast Asia on the forums, and I wanted to know if any of you have had the pleasure of trying this delightful fruit. One of my friends is supposed to import one, and I'm looking forward to experiencing it.

More information on the fruit can be found here:

Durian is absolutely wonderful! I live in Davao City in the Philippines and right now is the height of durian season. The good Durian currently cost twenty five Peso per Kilo.

Come to my house and I will give you all the durian you want to eat. Here the people say it smells like hell and tastes like heaven. ! For me the smell was very strong but after I had my first bite the smell was not bad to me, sort of like when a person smells garlic and then tastes it the smell is no longer off putting.

That's what I've heard as well, though when I had it the durian had been kept cool so the smell wasn't noticeable and the fruit was simply creamy.

Default I'll buy

I just returned from a drive and on the way home we purchased seven kilos of Durian. Alas it went quickly and it was delicious! Come on over and I will buy.

Default Come on over

Come and visit, I'll pick you up at the airport and buy Durian on the way back to my house and the guest bed room. Come before the end of the month though as I will be going back to the U.S. for a month then!

I've eaten them; they were fairly easily available when I lived in Canada.
