Astral Projection

The first night I read about Astral Projection I tried it and succeeded. But because I was afraid it only lasted a second before I was back in my body. The problem was that I did not know what to expect. In an Astral projection can I manifest characters like in lucid dreams? and can I shape shift?

Congratulations. Its not uncommon for people to Astral Project on reflex when they first read about it. Before you get into the Semantics, semiotics and proxemics of AP (oh yes, they are big words  ) try again, you might find you don't have the ability to do it until you acquire more skill.

As for your question...you can create thought forms in the first couple of levels but its hard to keep them solid and as you rise through the levels they become decidedly more....solid, in a non-solid way.

Here is where I like to distinguish between astral projection and out of body experience.

I'm not sure how the rest of the experts define these, but in my world, an out of body experience is when you separate your astral body and physical body but you remain floating around the earth plane. This happens to people during surgery where they float above their body and watch the surgery.

In an astral projection you move your astral body to another plane of existence. It's not like Earth.

In either case I wouldn't say you can make things like in a lucid dream. You are a visitor in another plane, it's not all under your control. However you have access to abilities there that you do not have here. Read my articles on astral projection on my blog for more information.

Erin. To what extent are you able to create when out of your body. I remember that in one of your blog posts to used a sword to attack a demon.

The sword I used was created out of the energy in the astral plane. It was a light sword, not a physical metal sword. It stayed there when I left.

When I was out of body, just floating around my room, I didn't create much, at least I am not remembering it if I did. But when I was on the astral plane I would do more creating using the energy material there.

I want to do this, but I get too excited

Since I had the most AMAZING lucid dream the other day, I came online here and found out about astral projections. I REALLY want to try it, and I thought the Saturday/Sunday morning sleep-in time would work, but when I normally fall asleep so easily, it's really hard because I get so excited. I guess I'm thinking about it too much, but I don't want to stop thinking so that I drift off to sleep...

Also, I used to be intensely afraid of ghosts when I was younger, and while now I'm excited to possibly seeing other life forms, I think that old fear still freaks me out, making the process, of course, produce nothing.

Any suggestions?

I found this to be super helpful:
Articles - Focus 10: Mind Awake/Body Asleep by Ashes
I am also reading Far Journeys by Robert Monroe.

The first time I tried to do a controlled seperation, it worked minus the fact I got scared half way out and fled back into my body.

Now every time I try, I get nowhere. I need to practice more but I just do not know how to.

I try to do it when I go to sleep and I don't know why but I start to sweat, it feels like it's sooooooooo hoooot man I'm sweating all the time. when I stop It get's normal, the temperature lowers

don't know why, I just stay in bed and can't project, I don't fall asleep eighter.

well I'm still trying and hope I succeed :)

Helping hand

Have any of the veteran astral projectors tried to help others that struggle? I mean just being present in their astral bodies at the location where 'newbies' are trying to achieve this. If it is possible, are there any here willing to do this?

Question, I'm not sure if I was experiencing Astral projection or not, but I went from a lucid dream to what it seemed like, Astral projection. I've never astral projected before.

From the lucid dream, I was having, I decided to close my eyes in the dream, and at this time, I felt and knew my body was asleep and my mind was awake. I then tried to push my conscious out of my body. I felt this buzzing noise and just a tingling feeling around my body, mostly my head. That's when I felt like my head left my body. At this moment of time I saw my room, or at least it felt like my room. That's when I got scared lol. I then quicky tried to wake up and pushed my conscious back into my body. I think what scared me was, right when I felt my body leaving, I instantly remembered reading stories from Erin's articles, and it scared me for some reason, hehe yet I was also a little excited. lol. I then remembered what erin said about the buzzing and the tingling feeling and I was like, this was totally it. But then I though, maybe it was just my mind making this up or something because I've read about it. I'm not sure, but it felt real. The buzzing even lasted for a little after I opened my eyes.

Side Note: I closed my eyes at 4:43, lol for some reason I decided I didn't want to see 4:44 when I went to sleep =P After this whole experience, I woke up at, I believe 5:04.

But anyways, I have a question.
What does the astral world look like?
I'm not sure what it's suppose to look like or what it is.

But for some reason... I felt like I saw a lot of BLUE.

Erin Pavlina 03-17-2009 03:13 PM

The astral plane can look very different each time you go. There are many levels, I'll call them, many frequencies. it's vast. It's like trying to describe the ocean and saying it's just calm and blue, when other areas might be a lighter blue or turbulent, etc.
