I was in a play once, Pandora's Perilous Predicament, and Pandora says, "Oh, see a penny pick it up, then all day you'll have good luck" to which my character replied, "See a penny, let it lie, then bad luck will pass you by." So yeah, I know all about the little jingles. |

"If you see a penny, let it be the bacteria messes with my OCD" I see change lying around not as a gift from the universe to me, but as a winking indication that there's so much overflowing abundance for everyone. I leave the change for people whose eyes are closer to the ground and who would derive far more delight from finding it than I would. But I love it when the Blue People leave me a twenty dollar bill in my coat pocket as a reward for not freaking out when they hide my car keys or eat one sock from a pair. |

What a great blog!! I have picked up pennies since I was a little kid. They always bring a smile to my face, and remind me that there is more! In the last few months I have noticed that the denomination sometimes get bigeer to - some days it's multiple pennies, somedays it's loonies. But my most favorite one happened just recently. it happened after a man came into the store I was working in, and commented that he found anouther dime, and that he seemed to be finding them everywhere. I mentioned to him that perhaps someone was trying to get his attention for something. Maybe he got the message maybe he didn't, but not long after he left, I thought i saw some money outside- but I couldn't go check because There were to many customers inside. - finally I got outside to check and sure enough it was a ten dollar bill!! (i watched 2 people walk over it and a car or two drive over it) I guess it was the universe give me the thumbs up!! pennies are great, You have to start some where. Cori |

Great post! I've found many pennies on the ground, and it's getting to be more of them recently. I've found them in some strange places also... I told my brother that if you think about getting money you will actually start to get it, but he didn't believe me. I told him to watch The Secret on youtube and he said "Now I know why you always think about money!" And now whenever I find pennies on the ground (my brother never does) I pick them up and he says "Oh, did you use The Secret?" I said yes I did and asked him if he believes The Secret and he goes "Of course not!" But I seriously doubt that Bill Gates would pick up pennies, mathematically it's not worth his time to bend over and pick up a $1000 dollar bill. But I bet he would... I have to lol at the people who don't believe The Secret in the face of repeated instances of it working, especially for money. Even my mom was afraid when I got The Secret book that if I believe it I'll end up nowhere because "You can't make things happen just by thinking about it, there's hard work involved." And you know what I think the LoA is doing when she says that? It's quite funny actually: "Your wish is my command" |

Erin, I've got a question. In your opinion, is it possible for that pennies to be charged by evil or black magic? I don't pick up pennies, because my wife says they can be evil-enchanted. And it's hard not to beleive her. In Russia, there are some old ladies who are true witches, literally. Don't call us crazy, there are facts involved. My wife's grandmother is a powerful evil witch. She goes to church to do her black magic at special days (days before big celebrations like Easter, usually at Fridays). She never goes there at actual celebration days. She killed her husband by some magic or potion, it looked as sudden strange death. And it happened at New Year's day, so all we had funeral party instead of happy celebration. (And every New Year she "kindly" invites all of the relatives to have another post mortem/grief party instead of happy celebration at the beginning of the year - how convenient! And she does not look sad at all, she actually has kind of wicked joy that days.) And there are many other facts, it's too long to tell them all. There were also pennies right under our door, many times. Do you beleive it's the Universe sends it? I think they were all "evil-charged gifts", brought by our grandwitch or her "mastermind group" - yes, she has one, and she is the oldest member. And every time we pass near its members, they look at us angrily and whisper, because we are usually bright and happy. Yes, I beleive it's safe to pick up pennies for high-vibration people, like you, Erin. But what can you say to us, with intermediate-vibration level? |

It's possible for people to intentionally put negative vibrations into an object, and if someone is sensitive to that sort of thing then yeah, I would suggest leaving them lie on the ground! So I should clarify that when you see a penny lying on the ground and it wasn't left there for you to find intentionally by someone trying to cause you harm, then you should pick it up.

Oh, this one sent my mind down a zillion rabbit trails (you're good at that, Erin). Like Angela, I always leave the pennies for the Short People. But then I'm thinking...well, Erin's right--I'm the one who saw it, so it's for me. And then I'm thinking, OK, I should accept it, and thank you very much! And then I'm thinking, pick it up and put the love mojo on it, and put it back down for a Short Person. And then I'm thinking...hey...put the love mojo on lots of pennies and go scatter them around the Toys R Us parking lot. Lord knows, the Short People need the love. I've had lots of dreams in which wherever I go, I find handfuls of coins of all kinds, just lying about unnoticed. Coins are very symbolic! |

Finding coins is one of the 8 common dream themes. Like you, I can find lots of ways to view the finding of the pennies. Pick the one you're a vibrational match for, but analyze it first and make sure that's the best way of viewing it. If not, change your intention. For me, finding coins on the ground is a wink from the universe. It wants to see if I am still a vibrational match for accepting the flow of wealth into my life (both the giving and the receiving). Notice I didn't say "taking" because that's not right. |

I'd actually like to get back into writing fiction and your mentioning of reading my stories is a nice synchronicity for me based on a conversation Steve and I were having today, so thanks for mentioning it.

This sort of reminds me of eating every last grain of rice in the bowl (Chinese tradition); something that I don't do. I don't think I'll be picking up pennies anytime soon but your article gave me perspective on that, surprisingly. Thanks! |

Erin, what you described is good but I think that one point needs to be emphasized - the factor which creates the outcome is not the actual physical action which but the intention. One may pick up all pennies which he/her comes across and remain poor for entire life, if his/her intention to pick up the penny arises from feeling of scarcity. For example "Ohh, I need to find more and more pennies, I need than money, I wish there were much more pennies lying on the sidewalk". You can imagine more better examples. I want to describe an exactly opposite approach (looking from physical perspective) that also produced good results - wealth - because the intentions were similar to yours. I started applying that approach about 10 years ago in my life and it procuded very good results pretty soon. Here we go - every time I find a penny (here in Poland it is called grosik To sum it up - both methods are good but what needs to be emphasized IMO is that the intentions are the factor which produce the outcome, not the actual physical actions (picking up or leaving the penny). aloha! The other day I was walking along a woods path and we saw a penny. She picked it up and gave it to me. Now I'm thinking it's more than just a neat little penny but a message for the universe to help us both find our way, or something bigger like that. What do you think? | |

Yes indeed. Sometimes I'll be having an interesting thought or conversation in my head, sometimes with a guide or my higher self, and sometimes just me, and I come upon a profound thought. Then I see a coin lying on the ground and it feels like it's punctuating the thought. Like a "ding ding" from the universe.

So, it's sort of like the Universe saying, "A penny for your (creative) thoughts." I like that! Sometimes I get the tiny pinpoint of light in front of my eyes for a second which I connect with a Godwink for my thoughts, but I'll definitely start noticing what I'm thinking about when I see the next pennies-from-heaven. |

Definitely, but for me it's the intensification of the wind or rain or the sound of crows - my totem - circling me (regarding the punctuation of thoughts). Everyone has different ways. I don't really notice money, but I do notice beauty, and that beauty is what keeps me sane sometimes... ~ David |

I have a question. What if you make a purchase that costs 99 cents with a dollar bill and don't accept the penny back as change? Assume there is no "take a penny leave a penny jar". I often just give the dollar to the cashier and walk away before they can make change. I wonder what message I'm sending out to the universe. It's more practical than anything else; if I accepted every penny my wallet wouldn't fit in my pocket. I tend to accumulate a lot of change. When I worked sweeping up a grocery store I saw tons of pennies which drove me nuts. They are impossible to sweep up and not worth bending over all day to pick up. I did find a 20$ in the trash though at that job. That was pretty awesome. |

When I was a child, grandpa used to pay me a dime to comb his (nearly non-existent) hair while he watched "wrasslin" on TV. We were very close and I still miss him even though he's been gone nearly 20 years. I find dimes frequently in out of the ordinary places (I don't count the ones in the bottom of my purse or my desk drawer). Every time I pick up a surprise dime I say "Hi Grandpa. I love you." They are signals that he's always with me. Often I get a dime when faced with life choices and I take it as confirmation that I'm making the right decision. This past week I've been negotiating a change in work hours to allow time to go back to school. I made a run to the post office one afternoon and right in the middle of a big stack of mail was a dime. |

Great blog Erin! I total agree with your view that picking up pennies sends the Universe a message that you are open to the flow of wealth into your life. If one is willing to stoop for a penny then one will be rewarded with larger blessings. One time, I stooped to pick up a penny and found a quarter not far from where I was standing. Had I not stooped for the penny, I likely would not have seen the quarter. You can read all about it on a blog I wrote a while back. Penny for Your Effort at Lucas Vaden . com Have a great day! |
