Every once in a while, I'll have a night where I can't get to sleep, because as soon as I rest and relax, I get a jolt of the following: - painful energy coursing up my spine from about where the heart is in front of it, up to the top of my brain. - A bass thrum in my ears, as if it were some kind of thick string being plucked, but at the same time I hear static that's almost like vaporizing glass, but that sound doesn't last long. - my eyes go bright, bright blue, and it's as if a flash just went off in my eyes. I actually can't see in the dark anymore. - my facial muscles clench, and sometimes I actually hurt the ligaments in my eyes because they all pull back so hard at once. When this happens in a given night, it always happens again, and again, and again, until I actually find another place to sleep. These days, it's our couch, which is good enough for me, so that's no problem. The problem is, I have experienced this on random nights since the summer between freshman and sophomore year in high school (I started my spiritual journey in the last weeks of freshman year). I'm wondering if there is anything in this that may be spiritual in nature, since it seems like I'm getting a surge from my heart chakra to my crown chakra (I do feel it coalesce into a ball about two inches above my head at the center, with a one inch radius). Thanks in advance, and hopefully I can understand this better with your help ~ David |

Hmm, that's intriguing. I can't say for sure what it is. Based on your description it sounds like psychic energy or possibly astral energy. I think I'd need to know more. Are you hearing anything when it happens? Do you feel like you're in two locations at once? Does it hurt or is it just intense? Do you have any known brain chemistry issues? Or epilepsy? Have you ever astral projected? Do you feel totally alone when this happens or do you feel a presence? Can you predict with any certainty under what conditions it will or will not happen? |

If by astral projection you mean separating mind from body, yes I have. I'm not able to project on nights when this occurs. I am able to hear things. It's as if my eardrums are vibrating on their own. It is as painful as any shock through the spine would be, but it is also very intense and nearly-instantaneous. A have ADHD, OCD, and Tourette syndrome, so I also think there may be things like that involved. Prediction-wise, it almost always happens when I haven't taken my morning medications that day, or the nighttime meds that night. During those days, my spine regularly shivers, and I do feel very alone. I guess this might mean the energy is astral, from a blockage that gets in the way of the given chakras opening, likely due to a lack of equilibrium in my neurochemical situation. While that is a perfectly reasonable connection, I would like to know how the neurochemical imbalance would block astral energy. If you have any idea, I'd love to know where that connection is made. Again, thanks, Erin. ~ David |

I read your description of Astral Projection, and my answer to whether I do it will be revised: An EEG of my brain as a child showed an almost constant amount of Theta frequencies, which are the REM sleep and Zen meditation frequencies, if I remember correctly. I can project without effort, and I can do so almost anywhere. I have had experiences very similar to the ones you've listed, and I've experienced the effects they have on others first-hand. So, actually, it makes sense that the blockage would be so immensely painful as it tries to punch through... Apparently, there's a lot of energy in that regard. Hopefully I don't sound like a braggart, because I agree with your blog posts that it's usually a very alien experience, and one that can be very frightening. ~ David |

Okay I'm no astral physician, but it sounds like what happens to you is like having a drippy faucet. You can't totally and completely turn off the flow, the connection you have to the astral plane. It's like something needs to be tightened so you don't get loose. I think the sensation you're experiencing is an attempt by your astral body to get loose from the physical. I have moments where I feel what you're describing but they sure don't last long. I have a feeling that you're unable to staunch the flow of astral energy coursing through you when you're experiencing this sensation. Does that sound right to you? if not we can explore further. |

I forgot to say, so I'll say it now. Thank you very much for your help, Erin. I am happy now that I know what this problem is. I have multiple plans for healing this issue, and I ask humbly for a bit of you intent to assist in my acquisition of these things: - Massage therapy to open the energy flow - Chiropractic to increase my spinal efficiency - Perseverance to make missed medication as rare an occurrence as possible. Thank you again for helping me with this, and I suppose I should look forward to needing your help in the future :P. |

I'm practicing my intuition, here - mind if you're a guinea pig for me? I believe chiropractic would be very, very beneficial... I'm also picturing something... not acupuncture, that would be too harsh, but it's like an electric pulse, that would be placed along your spine. I don't know what that therapy might be. The picture I get is of two wires placed close together on your skin, and you would receive mild pulses of electricity from those. This would need to be done all down your spine, with your spine in the center of the two wires. Or, make sure it's down both sides of your spine equally if you can't do that. Perhaps also on your temples, and your crown. Does such a therapy exist? I don't think I've ever heard of anything like that. Maybe someone on the forum has. peace and healing to you ~ Caren Last edited by carenkh; 07-01-2007 at 11:52 AM. Reason: mistyping |

There is something called TENS which is what you're describing Caren. in fact, the first time I had it was at a chiropractor's office. I was having sharp shooting pains in my back from leaning over to change diapers. One session on the TENS machine and the pain was gone! It sends a mild electrical pulse through you. Mine was placed at the base of the spine but i'll bet you could put them other places. |

Yes, I've had this as well. I definitely think that has been beneficial. I'll explain why. It's been about a month since I last went to the chiropractor (before that, I visited every 2 weeks). The last time I was there, I was given that very therapy for the first time. I found it resonated very well with my body, like I felt absolutely right about it. For the last month, I have definitely kept on having a bad posture at the computer. But that has not led to any biting pain in my back as it used to. Something tells me this TENS therapy is something I should look into again and regularly. It may actually offset my need for medication... Thanks for the insight! ~ David |
