But why?
Should not death and return to the spirit planes release us from the cares of life?
Since it takes so much energy to communicate 'down here' why not talk to the higher selves that are there?
I must be missing something ...

I think we're pretty important down here.

Quote:
In terms of complexity of this divine expression, living human beings actually represent a greater invention — or maybe a better word is deeper.

Angels are a much simpler expression of God; angels do not access the degree of difficulty or the range of experience that human beings do. We are God’s masterpiece; we are co-creators in the Universe; we are the means by which God experiences and knows itself.

While we may look up to angels as miraculous or magical beings — higher than we are — they know that our mission is the most important.

Angels are our older siblings, but we are the prodigal children. You must remember that God chose to incarnate as human.

Angels are a limited, earlier prototype of spiritual being. They do not experience anywhere near the complexity of the wisdom gained from living, human incarnation.

Angels have:

No physical senses
No free will
No gender or sexuality
They do not experience the joys or the difficulties of life - they don’t eat, or have sex, or feel emotions. They only have one state or mode of experience - and while it may be bliss, it’s incredibly limited. They do not suffer, but they love, untested.

Angels do not extend the creation of the Universe. They may have it easy, but their task doesn’t approach the significance of man’s role as co-creator of reality.

Life is incredibly complicated and difficult. The masterpiece of humanity - the ascension of the human race - is the masterpiece and triumph of Heaven itself.

I just wanted to say thanks, Erin. Very interesting post. It helped me understand a little better.

Erin, I want to say thank you as well. I always "knew" that the deceased could communicate with us, but your confirmation of it makes me feel better

About six months after my father died, 21 years ago, I dreamed that I got a phone call from him. In the dream, I knew he was dead. All he said to me on the phone was, "Don't worry. I'm fine." And that was all I really needed to know

YES! Exactly! Take heart, be at peace, in some ways... many ways in fact ... they are much better off than WE are.

A lovely post Erin, and very much in line with my own experiences as a medium.
I had a friend pass away suddenly a couple of weeks ago and had some interesting and delightful interactions with him.

The week before he died a fantail flew into the house and buzzed my head. An ominous sign. According to Maori legend, fantails’ flying inside indicates a death. Then, a couple of days before, I felt like a heavy cloak had been thrown over me and felt on the verge of tears for no reason.

A couple of days after his death, he appeared in the lounge patting at his body going, ‘Look, its still here!’ Meaning he was surprised he still had a body. A little later, I heard ‘Look, look!’ and saw him with his arms through the wall and a huge grin on his face. Then he pulled his arms out and waved his hands around. I laughed and thought ‘yes that’s Graeme, exploring his new body.’ The next ‘Look, look’ I couldn’t see him anywhere and I got the impression he could be in an etheric body or not if he wanted.

The following morning while I was having breakfast he sat next to me and showed me what happened when he died. All I knew was that he’d had a massive heart attack. I had no idea if he died on the spot or later in hospital. He said it felt like a huge tree trunk had been rammed into his chest and he couldn’t get a single breath. He was about to step off a porch onto a step. He tried to reach out for a pillar but missed it and fell to the ground. He showed me his head hitting the step but he didn’t feel it. Then he showed me himself standing next to his body trying to breath for it. I sat with him and watched his wife and a man try to resuscitate him. He was pretty annoyed at his body for clapping out. When it was taken away he grumbled, ‘You can have it, it’s no bloody use now.’

After the body had gone we were still sitting on the front step and a man in his mid thirties appeared on the lawn not far from us. I watched Graeme get up and walk towards him. Behind the man was a crowd of people. I had the feeling Graeme didn’t know the man because there was no sign of recognition but once they started talking Graeme became quite animated. They both walked into the crowd of people and disappeared. I wondered afterwards if the new ‘after death’ reality becomes more real and they perceive us more like a dream.

His wife had emailed to ask if I got anything from him would I let her know. So I emailed back what I picked up and she confirmed everything that happened.

I would love to get names clearer. I can see dead people, feel their feelings and hear their thoughts but only get clear names intermittently. If anyone knows how to develop clairaudience further, I love any tips.

Default hey....was that my dad??

Hi Erin -

Quote:
In another instance, I connected with the father of a woman I had read for and he was just the most fascinating individual. So philosophical, so learned, so intriguing. He was really enjoying his time in the ether and told me he was attending “lectures” and having conversations with other philosophical and fascinating individuals. I liked his energy so much that I spent about an hour or so after the reading was over just communicating with him. He was an amazing individual.
I think this may have been my dad, yes? Maybe? You were doing a reading for my mama and I was on the line for moral support, and my dad came through and he was sort of acing the afterlife, like he'd downloaded the manual for all the his new abilities and was getting a big kick out of trying them all out. He'd also suggested that I go berserk decorating a cake for his birthday. Is this my pops you're talking about here?

If so, how great. And if it's a different guy...well...how great for that family!

I am cuckoo for your blog, Erin. And not just because I think you might have given a shout-out to my dad. This was a great post even if it's someone else's pop you're talking about.

I'm just now starting to shed the fear of opening up my own psychic abilities, too, and a lot of that is thanks to the demystification you give us. It's most appreciated.

Hi Tina, yes it was indeed your father. I was protecting your anonymity but since you've brought it up I guess the cat is out of the bag.

I'm glad you are shedding your fears. But of way more importance, how's the cake decorating coming?

No need to protect my anonymity when you're talking about how awesome my dad is! That cat can prance on out of that bag.

The cake decorating...is a little bit incompatible with the Weight Watchers program I'm doing. Boo! But I'll be back. I'll be back, cakes.
