Default Where does earthly marriage fit in?

I'm curious if earthly marriage as a sacred bond between 2 people really exists in the spiritual realm or is that just something designed by our egos to control human behavior?

Is there bad karma associated with breaking a marriage and is it possible for our higher self and guiding angels to lead us into a marriage and then lyears later ead us away from a marriage when the time has come?? Or is it once in an earthly marriage the higher self and guiding angels always want us to stay?

You are not obligated to stay married if your relationship is no longer tenable.

Earthly marriage is a human expression, not a spiritual one.

Being a spiritual companion to someone on earth is totally different than being a married human.

Thumbs up I concur.

Hi Kelly. I have to say that I completely agree with Erin on this.

Marriage can be spiritually fulfilling, but the concept itself as a declaration of love or unity is an entirely human construct...sort of a public affirmation of how we as an individual feel about the other person. It can be freeing and joyful but can also become restrictive.

What is important to note is that your higher self, your connected spiritual side (whether you are talking about personal guides or communal entities like deities) does not flourish and continue to grow if you feel sad or repressed and stay bound to that situation long-term. We all learn lessons from our life experiences and once we have taken that lesson on-board we usually move on.

My own spirit guide let me make mistakes with relationships (as a mode of growth) and was also the catalyst (at least once) to ending such a relationship. Know this: whatever decision we make is always the right decision for our personal growth at that point in time. If faced with the same situation again in the future we may make a different decision.

We, as spiritual beings, cannot make a wrong decision, for there are several different ways to learn the lessons we intended to learn in this lifetime.

Embracing self is the ultimate goal, it is us who chose to allow others to help us reach that goal.

Brightest Blessings,
Vera Nadine

Are there also two genders in spiritual realm? Or is it a physical thing?

And do we continue these relationships after death? It just seems odd and sad to cultivate a relationship and love so fully only to have it cease to exist after crossing over.

Gender... it really depends on your perspective and your lens. when I read for someone, the guides present as a masculine or feminine energy, but the true reality is that gender is illusion, we are all one energy, one divine consciousness.

Do we continue the relationships after death? Also depends on your perspective. You will see your loved ones when you cross over. You don't have to reunite with people you didn't love just because they were related to you on earth. You can continue a relationship with another piece of consciousness.

I can understand marriage as being a human expression but what does it mean when someone breaks up a marriage in a hurtful way such as leaving a spouse for another?
It is a blow to the ego of the left behind spouse but does it mean anything at the spiritual level to either spouse?
I understand that the marriage may have had to come to an end.....but to be betrayed?? It is an excruitating pain and has really damaged my trust in people.
I think I know how the end of the marriage is suppose to benefit me but I don't understand how the betrayal will. Being human, it is not as simple as getting over it and moving on, as I really wish it was. I don't think anyone can answer that .........

But my point is, since betrayal hurts the ego, sprirtually speaking, is it significant since marriage is not??
