Erin, THANK YOU for this article. You have just addressed exactly what I have had on my mind lately.

It's refreshing to know that someone else is ok with not knowing for sure. I think the thought of not having your beliefs set in stone is unsettling for some people because the possibility of being wrong is right there in front of their face, but for me it's very freeing to be ok with the fact that I have no concrete idea of what is beyond humanity and therefore there really is no right or wrong. It's ok if the voices I hear turn out to be some kind of hallucination...lol...but for now they're keeping me in accurate company, so we'll just go with it. LOL.

It creates a very open feeling, which is nice, and I find myself being able to accept and more neutrally contemplate others' experiences and ideas this way.

You did a wonderful job here of clarifying the difference between KNOWING and BELIEVING, which I think is really important and is incredibly helpful.

Thank you!

I love this article. I realized awhile ago that I rarely have an interest in the why of things. You can really drive yourself crazy if you constantly have to know and rarely will you find a satisfying answer. I don't agree with a lot of people's beliefs, but if it helps them in life and to get through tough times, then that's all that matters. I have my own beliefs, yet remain flexible and open to other ideas. It makes life so much easier to just do what works for you without worrying about it. It doesn't effect others in a negative way, so it can't be bad. And it makes me happy.

Loved this article! What you've written is equally true whether you are a devoted mystic or a hardcore skeptic. It says so much about the human condition.
